O The Wall Museum East Side Gallery, inaugurado na noite de quarta-feira (06/04), é o quarto museu sobre o Muro de Berlim, mas sua peculiaridade é o fato de se orientar para o público jovem, com muito material audiovisual. Cem monitores e projetores distribuídos em 13 salas apresentam filmes e documentários da história alemã, desde o fim da Segunda Guerra até a queda do Muro de Berlim.
Além dos depoimentos de testemunhas da época do Muro, são lembradas as pessoas que morreram ao tentar fugir da então Alemanha Oriental, entre 13 de agosto de 1961 e 9 de novembro de 1989. Também são abordadas a tensão diplomática durante a Guerra Fria e as manifestações das segundas-feiras na antiga Alemanha Oriental.
O ex-ministro alemão do Exterior Hans-Dietrich Genscher, que morreu na semana passada, recebeu muito espaço. O acervo tem, por exemplo, um desfibrilador que acompanhou Genscher nas viagens através da Cortina de Ferro após dois enfartes em 1989.

"Wind of Change" dos Scorpions
O cantor Klaus Meine, da banda alemã Scorpions, abriu oficialmente o museu, que fica junto da galeria de arte ao ar livre East Side Gallery, onde está a maior parte do Muro ainda de pé.
O idealizador e curador do museu é o produtor Jaka Bizilj, responsável pela Fundação Cinema for Peace. Segundo ele, o diferencial deste museu em relação aos demais sobre o tema são os documentários.
"Tentamos abordar todos os assuntos relacionados em forma de filme", disse. Para isso, ele contou com a assessoria, por exemplo, do historiador Guido Knopp, que faz documentários históricos para a tevê, e do documentarista Jürgen Ast.
Depoimentos de testemunhas da época
Os vídeos apresentados no novo museu incluem depoimentos de quem vivenciou a divisão da Alemanha e o processo da Reunificação. Entre elas, estão o ex-secretário de Estado James Baker, o ex-chefe de Estado russo Mikhail Gorbachev e Genscher.
O museu dedica um espaço especial aos esforços históricos do ex-ministro, cuja diplomacia levou à abertura das fronteiras da Hungria em meados de 1989, e seu engajamento a favor dos refugiados alemães-orientais acampados na embaixada da então Alemanha Ocidental em Praga.
E uma prova de que o Muro já faz parte da cultura pop é a sala dedicada à ópera rock The Wall, da banda Pink Floyd.
O novo museu é privado e fica no histórico prédio Mühlenspeicher, na ruaMühlenstraße 78-80, em Friedrichshain, Berlim. Além deste, Berlim tem ainda outro museu privado sobre o Muro, no antigo Checkpoint Charlie; o Memorial na rua Bernauer Strasse; e a enorme foto panorâmica de Yadegar Asisi, também no antigo ponto de passagem Checkpoint Charlie.
