Localizado em área nobre do centro histórico de Ilhabela, o espaço foi totalmente reformado e abriga salas para oficinas culturais, o Museu “Waldemar Belisário” e as novas instalações da Biblioteca Pública Municipal “Dr. Renato Lopes Corrêa”. 

Em breve, o local ainda ganhará o “Cinebela”, o primeiro cinema da cidade.

A biblioteca já está montada com diversas estantes cheias de livros, mesas, cadeiras e computadores. O museu “Waldemar Belisário” recebeu o acervo permanente e conta ainda com duas salas para exposições itinerantes. Também será reservado um espaço para exposição das peças arqueológicas da cidade.

Um espaço público de extremo valor para nossa comunidade, mas também para o turismo. Tenho certeza que se tornará um dos grandes atrativos da Vila”, destacou o prefeito.

Ele lembrou que o Estado pretendia ampliar a antiga escola, mas propôs a nova utilização do prédio, com a contrapartida de construir uma nova escola. A unidade de ensino foi feita pela Prefeitura no bairro do Perequê, abrigando assim a Escola Estadual Dr. Gabriel Ribeiro.
