Auniversary: The latest discovery! Where now the tunnel? --- Zamek Książ: Najnowsze odkrycie! Dokąd teraz tunelem? --- Auniversary: A mais recente descoberta! Onde está agora o túnel?

Ice Tower, which was discovered in the castle Książ, contains more surprises. We already know that there are two tunnels extending towards the east and west - one is blind, but the second probably leads to the terraces below the castle. Unfortunately, it was partitioned stone wall, and its removal must be agreed with the conservator. What else is hidden tower?

Lift time

In place of excavations they meet really three different castles Książ. This from the Middle Ages, from the thirteenth century, when it was established there moat defending a small castle then. This from the seventeenth century, when the tower was built ice. And this from the twentieth century, from the dark Nazi era, when destroyed its remains. It is also a journey into the depths of the earth, because the moat was 10 meters below the current access road to the tunnel of economic and at the medieval Oślej roads, traces of which can be seen on the terrace below.

- When the current road built in the twentieth century, was filled basements already demolished the tower and its foundations. When removed hence the big tree, its roots revealed the cellar ceiling. After her odgruzowaniu found two tuneliki. We knew the tower of the figures, but we did not know anything about her foundation. They may be older than she was. They demolished it probably when built courtyard of honor in the first half. XVIII century. This is a great historical discovery, completely unrelated to World War II, an insight into the history of the castle during the great reconstruction at the time of Maximilian von Hochberg. We did not have yet discovered such a rank - says Andrzej Gaik guide to the castle Książ.

Two windows and a thick glass

By the way, also unearthed traces of medieval fortifications dry moat. It is also a very valuable find, though perhaps not as spectacular as tunnels.

- Now we have to reveal everything, organize, and see what will determine the conservator who has already received from us documentation. We want to show the tower tourists are unlikely to be able to descend to the bottom, because the tunnels are too low, 120 - 140 cm and technically we do not have the possibility of making them available, but we think of thick glass, which you will come to look inside and see highlighted the bottom of the tower and the entrance to the tunnel - says Bogdan Rosicki, employee supervising the excavation of the castle.

This little bigger fridge. I fireplace

Tunnel Out on the west side is admittedly baffled wall, but you can see that there has been made drainage, which must have drainage, so the next step is the search for work GPR exit on the terrace below. It is not yet clear role of the tunnel, maybe, he says Bogdan Rosicki, it was just dehydration towers, in which, after the ice melted. Today, moreover, stands in the water. Tower ice refrigerator was old times here in the winter were removed chunks of ice from the castle ponds that slowly melted over the summer months, keeping the temperature 3-4 degrees Celsius, suitable for storage of meat, dairy and other products. That hung here inks provide hooks found. But not only hooks found.

- The most exciting thing - there were parts of the fireplace. We have no idea of which it is the room because it is very destroyed, and, as we know, fireplaces was in the lock 300. We're trying to go to any match. Were also well-preserved fragments of the roof, a lot of broken porcelain with German subtitles, metal components such as buckles or hardware. When we finish work, we will present these items - says Bogdan Rosicki.

The castle itself is its documentation

Since the case "gold train" temporarily subsided, find Książ is of great interest. How to tell the employees of the company operating the excavations, visitors are looking into them very often. Immediately after the discovery of the tourists came from Silesia. Excavations will be taken care of an archaeologist. Of course, there are supervised 24 hours a day.

Of course, there are others in the castle legendary objects that can suddenly be discovered during renovation work or other accident. They are sought after, for example, medieval dungeons beneath the Gothic part of the castle, which is a lot of information. Says Bogdan Rosicki, we all hoped that the blind tunnel leads into the courtyard of honor and can somehow be combined with other underground passages. We do not know what else in this place find, because really the Książ is one big mystery.

- We have no documentation, because everything deported Germany. And here is the problem, because in Książ operate in the dark. If she was, it would not need to dig - says Andrzej Gaik.

The decision conservator to continue the work may be known in a few days.

Rozebrano ją prawdopodobnie, kiedy budowano dziedziniec honorowy w I poł. XVIII wieku. To wielkie odkrycie historyczne, zupełnie niezwiązane z II wojną światową, wgląd w historię zamku podczas jego wielkiej przebudowy w czasach Maksymiliana von Hochberg.

Dwa szyby i gruba szyba

I kominek

Próbujemy go do jakiejś dopasować.

By the way, também descobriu vestígios de fortificações medievais fosso seco.

I lareira

Estamos tentando ir a qualquer jogo.

Pakistan has unearthed the city defeated by Alexander the Great. --- Paquistão desenterrou a cidade derrotado por Alexandre, o Grande.

The ruins that Directorate of Archaeology & Museums Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Italian archaeologists have unearthed in modern-day Barikot, in Pakistan´s Swat valley, once belonged to Bazira, the city conquered by Alexander the Great.

The finding, of which AGI news agency is giving a preview, was confirmed by the tests that have just been carried out.

The excavations, which are conducted by ISMEO in partnership with Directorate of Archaeology and Museums of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, are financed through the ACT Project under the debt conversion agreement between Italy and Pakistan.

In short, Italian archaeologists working in the Italian-Pakistani excavations in the Swat valley did not go on vacation this summer.

The Italian Archaeological Mission (renamed ISMEO), founded by Giuseppe Tucci in the Swat District in 1955, has been excavating in Barikot since 1984. The ISMEO has continued to be operational and has celebrated its 60th year of activity last November with a cycle of conferences and exhibitions in China, a Country very close to Pakistan.

Since 2011 the excavations at Barikot, the ancient Bazira (12 hectares including the acropolis) have concentrated on approximately one hectare in the south-western quadrant of the city.

Bazira is mentioned in classical sources as having been put under siege and conquered by the Macedonians led by Alexander the Great towards the end of the 4th Century BC. Up to now there had been no trace of this ancient city. Archaeologists had dated the city at the Indo-Greek period of King Menander, the Greek King of Buddhist faith who ruled almost two centuries after Alexander and whose coins were found in the excavation site.

During the last few weeks, an analysis of the materials conducted with the help of the CIRCE team headed by Prof Filippo Terrasi (Napoli2 University, Department of Mathematics and Physics) revealed that the pre Indo-Greek city levels can be dated with absolute certainty at the middle of the 3rd Century BC, one century prior to the city walls, which means in the middle of the Mauryan period. And that´s not all: the protohistoric village unveiled by the trench foundations outside the city walls dates back to 1100-1000 BC.

"Today it is clear that the Indo-Greeks fortified a city that already existed and that, in order to build the city walls, they destroyed most of the stratigraphy and exposed extremely ancient structures through extended and deep terracing work. We used to think that the city lays on nothing more than a late protohistoric settlement. Today we know that it was already a city and that the ruins at the foot of the walls are 800 years older than we had originally thought," said the Mission Director, Luca M. Olivier.
