Cultura brasileira: Candomblé. - CARURU: IGUARIA SAGRADA DA FESTA POPULAR E RELIGIOSA. --- Brazilian culture: Candomblé. - Pigweed: Delicacies SACRED OF POPULAR PARTY AND RELIGIOUS

- Pigweed: Delicacies SACRED OF POPULAR PARTY AND RELIGIOUS

The size of the offering is measured by the amount of okra. Thousand, three thousand, five thousand, ten thousand okra. Everyone does as he can. When the food is ready, small portions are placed in clay pots that are deposited at the foot of the images of the saints, next to the candles, candy and water. Then the other party is served seven boys with a maximum of seven years each. They must eat with your hands, all together in one large clay bowl. Then it is the turn of the guests attending the party. So sends Caruru tradition of Saints Cosmas and Damian served in yards and homes, mainly in Bahia. Custom, hand distribution of sweets to - and chicken Xinxim, the vatapd, rice, white corn, black-eyed peas, black beans, farofa, acarajé, abará, fried plantain and roller cane -, integrates the festivities.

The day began very early in the home of the Bahian Milena Andrade. "With the pans of pigweed, chicken and vatapd on fire. rolled not sweet. Only at the altar of the two saints. In the late afternoon, my mother came back from the street with seven poor children. No one could eat before them. I gave them full pigweed and a glass of wine Don Bosco (as it is, it rolled good in Bahia 1980). After they filled the belly and it was our turn and who came to eat. That was the day the famous 'Caruru 7 Boys'. One day, I'll re-edit this annual event here at home, "says the journalist who made a career and family in Maceió.

In Ilê Axé Legionirê Nito's Xoroquê, nation Axé House Angola Jeje-Mahin-Vodun-Dahomey, located in the district of Benedito Bentes in Maceió, and led by Father Manoel do Xoroquê the pigweed is a food that the yard "weaken for Xango. " "Shango, and is the Orisha of justice, it is also the child's protector. So every child like amaranth because it is served by the father. Pigweed is served to Xango, Iansa and does not cease to be a Candomblé food. He was raised in candomblé and brought by our African. In fact, the party symbolizes party in the fields. It is the tribute we do to children, the future babalorixás. In the past, it was done only for children who started in Candomblé, but as the party has grown so much and prejudice is over, what happens is that even evangelical children are partakers of our party Cosmas and Damian. All come pick up the bags, confectionary and participate in the games. "

A museum that combines these three fields in a space for debate, discovery, critical thinking and international dialogue. An innovative project that brings together a new building, designed by the architect Amanda Levete, and the Tejo Power Station, an example of Portuguese industrial architecture from the first half of the 20th century, and one of the most visited museums in the country.

MAAT reflects the desire to present national and international exhibitions with contributions from contemporary artists, architects and thinkers. Contemplating great themes and current trends, the programming will also present diverse curatorial views on the EDP Foundation’s Art Collection.

MAAT programming began on June 30 with the presentation of four exhibitions in renovated rooms at the Tejo Power Station. On October 5, the new building opens to the public with a large-scale work specifically conceived by the French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster for this space.

Through MAAT, the EDP Foundation brings new energy to the city of Lisbon’s culture and landscape. The diversity of the programmes and spaces make this an important stop in the city’s cultural map. A venue created for all audiences, of all ages.
