Bill Gates brings together $ 1 billion for clean energy. --- Bill Gates reúne US$ 1 bilhão para energias limpas.

Entrepreneur leads the coalition of donors committed to new technologies.

NEW YORK - Billionaire and American philanthropist Bill Gates is leading a coalition of committed donors to invest more than $ 1 billion in innovative clean energy technologies to combat global warming, the foundation said on Monday. The fund will invest in green energy research in a number of sectors, including transportation, power generation, manufacturing, construction and agriculture.

"We'll be open to anything that will produce cheap, clean energy," Gates said.

Among the investors in this fund, called "Breakthrough Energy Ventures" (BEV), are Jeff Bezos, the head and founder of Amazon; The financier philanthropist George Soros, the British Richard Branson, creator of Virgin; And Mark Zuckerberg, founder and director of Facebook.

Together, their fortunes total nearly $ 170 billion, according to an estimate by Bloomberg and Forbes.

The BEV will "finance emerging initiatives that can produce economically viable and carbon-free energy sources," said a statement from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

In late 2015, President Barack Obama's administration announced the creation of the coalition, led by Bill Gates and presented as a group that would serve as a bridge between new companies in the green energy sector, research and the energy market.

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, had announced in 2015 that he would devote one billion dollars of his own fortune to developing technologies to produce clean energy.

In a video message, Bill Gates said that public investment is insufficient. "We must therefore support researchers who work on the source of these problems."

Having investors willing to put money into these high-risk financial income activities can change the energy situation, he added.

"I'm optimistic," the billionaire added. "I believe we will have an increase in" funding "needed to solve this problem and generate technological advances."

Bill Gates reúne US$ 1 bilhão para energias limpas.

Palacete of the Country Club becomes patrimony of Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil.

The Palacete Rodolpho de Lara Campos, known as Casarão of the Clube de Campo de Piracicaba (CCP), is the newest architectural and historical patrimony of the city. The official tipping act authorized by Codepac (Council for the Defense of Cultural Heritage of Piracicaba) was held on Saturday morning, December 3, at the club's premises. Present were Mayor Gabriel Ferrato, Codepac President and Attorney General of the Municipality, Mauro Rontani, Secretary of the Cultural Action, Rosângela Camolese, Alderman Pedro Cruz, representing the City Council, municipal secretaries, CCP President José Fernando Maniero, and associates.

The Palacete Rodolpho de Lara Campos

Decree 16.865 of December 1, 2016 was signed by the mayor, the Secretary of Cultural Action and the president of Codepac, who received a copy of the book The History of the Country Club - 50 years.

The mayor highlighted the architectural project of the property that preserves the historical memory of the city. He made a comparative quoting that, generally, when people travel abroad, they first visit the preserved historical areas. "We have to have this commitment in the city, in the sense of preserving the natural and cultural heritage," Ferrato said. He notes that the palace is one of the most important and imposing symbols of the history and memory of Piracicaba. "When we realize its tipping we recognize its historical value and we guarantee its preservation, just as it happened with the intangible heritage of the accent and dialect capira".

Rosângela Camolese noted that the house has involvement with the story and therefore must be preserved. "The safeguarding of a property like this is a source of pride, since many municipalities with similar properties can not overthrow them because they do not have a Patrimony Defense Council acting as Piracicaba, made up of volunteers such as engineers, architects, historians , Researchers and lawyers, who meet once a month to assist in directives regarding landfills for monuments and real estate and intangible assets. This is another space that falls under strict criteria. "

The secretary also points out that, now, the club's chances of seeking, through incentive laws, a project to restore or maintain its characteristics, with the approval and approval of Codepac, are widened.

According to Mauro Rontani the Country Club has always maintained the original characteristics of the mansion since its foundation and the municipality considered it appropriate to do the tipping and give this gift not to the club, but to the city. He pointed out that for the tombamento to occur, at first, its historical importance and what it represents beyond the architectural question is analyzed. "Tipping is not just real estate (material). We also have immaterial tipping, as done recently with the caipiracicabano dialect. They are assets of the municipality, such as the dance of the umbigada and the Feast of the Divine, so that the city knows of its existence and gives its real value. "

The president of Codepac explains that the tipping follows a rite of several stages, taking in average six months to be completed. First, the Department of Historic Patrimony of the City Hall proposed the opening of the process, which led to Codepac was approved in an ordinary meeting of the entity. Subsequently, the Council communicated to the authorities of the city and the process was followed by documents that justified the tipping. Finally, the DPH (Department of Historic Heritage of IPPLAP (Piracicaba Research and Planning Institute) issued the final opinion with the gathered documentation, which was forwarded to the Executive for signing the Municipal Decree of Tombamento of the property, later registered in the Tombo Book of Codepac.

For the president of the CCP, José Fernando Maniero, "having the tiling of the duly approved Mansion represents a property of cultural and architectural relevance for the city and its population." According to him, "it shows that the CCP is committed to its history of foundation and to Piracicaba, not only being a social club, but also with cultural concern," he said.

ARCHITECTURAL HIGHLIGHT - With its imposing, respectable and beautiful architectural aspect, with two floors above the basement, the construction was perfectly suited to the initial purposes of the foundation of the Club, being used as the first social headquarters of the entity. A grandiose building with many internal divisions, it has several entrances on the first floor, almost all surrounded by a beautiful balcony typical of palaces designed for the agribusiness exponents of the late nineteenth century.

Today, besides hosting some CCP administration offices, Casarão hosts events where members and their guests can immerse themselves in a piece of the past filled with works of art acquired in six decades of history. Now the building itself acquires relic status to be preserved.

The building, which has several entrances on the first floor, the main one with staircase in front, is surrounded by a balcony. Nowadays, besides the works of Ceará painter and designer Vicente Leite, among other artists, there are some offices of the Clube de Campo administration and headquarters of the institution.

Zambiapunga may become Intangible Heritage of Bahia, Brazil. --- Zambiapunga pode se tornar Patrimônio Imaterial da Bahia, Brasil.

The demonstration Zambiapunga, which occurs in early November in the Southern Bahia Lowlands, in municipalities such as Cairú, Nilo Peçanha, Taperoá and Valença will have until the end of the first half of 2017 the dossier finalized to have the request for special registration of the manifestation as Intangible Heritage from Bahia. The Institute of Artistic and Cultural Heritage (IPAC), a unit of the State Secretariat of Culture, has been carrying out studies for this purpose.

The dossier began to be drawn up in the second half of this year (2016). The researches had technical cooperation from the Institute of Sustainable Development of the Southern Lowlands (Ides). "The tradition is marked by the use of allegorical costumes: colorful costumes and silk papers," explains Roberto Pellegrino, Director of Preservation at IPAC. During festive periods, a group of men use giant whelks and hoes played as percussion instruments. "Usually they spread out on the streets at dawn, waking up the population in a rhythm of celebration," Pellegrino says.

The first step of IPAC was to conduct research, with field visits, interviews, collection of documents, photos and old newspapers, among other items. "We are now working on the dossier, one part is ready and the other is finished in the first half of 2017," says IPAC anthropologist Adriana Cerqueira, who is responsible for drafting the document. Then the dossier goes to the Culture Secretariat and the Culture Council (CEC). After approval, it is presented to the governor, who makes final analysis and signs a decree making the demonstration protected by the State of Bahia.

COMMUNITIES

The 'Zambiapunga' is present in the municipalities of Nilo Peçanha, Valença, Taperoá, Cairú and in the localities of Galeão, Caraíba and Boipeba. To get a closer look, the agency's multidisciplinary team was in the communities of Cajaíba, Atracadouro and Bom Jardim, in Valença. Ides technicians were also present, coordinated by Liliana Leite.

IPAC participated the Director of Preservation, Roberto Pellegrino, manager of Intangible Heritage, Nívea Alves, and the anthropologist Adriana Cerqueira. "There are also the masks inserted in the context of Zambiapunga. Protection will be for all these manifestations," explains Adriana.

Zambiapunga is considered to come from Zambiapombo, Nzambi Mpungu, Zambi and Nzambi, originating from the Bantu peoples, from which also came the tradition of the candomblé of the Angola nation in Bahia. These sacred entities would be correlated to the god Olorum of Candomblé Ketu, and is syncretized in Catholicism to the Lord of Bonfim. The Bantus originate in Angola and Congo, in Africa. If approved in the CEC, the Zambiapunga will be enrolled in the Book of Expressions Lúdicas and Artísticas of Bahia.

--- The first two promotional films of Viseu, from the 30s of the twentieth century, were 'rescued', with the aim of "valuing the immaterial cultural heritage of Viseu.

The first two promotional films of Viseu, from the 30s of the twentieth century, were 'rescued', with the aim of "valuing the immaterial cultural heritage of Viseu.

"This DVD is a redemption of Viseu's film heritage from the 1930s. This commemorative edition values this immaterial cultural heritage of Viseu and allows it to be shared with the community, visitors, tourists and moviegoers," said Almeida Henriques.

photo: The National Museum Grão Vasco is located in the historical center of Viseu, in the old palace of the bishops, from the 16th century, next to the cathedral.

During the presentation of the commemorative edition of the DVD 'Viseu Antiqua et Nobilissima', which unites in an unprecedented way two films from the 30s of the 20th century, authored by Captain Almeida Moreira and Amélia Borges Rodrigues, Almeida Henriques underlined the importance of the initiative.

"It is a valuable rescue against oblivion, in favor of identity and the memory of a way of seeing and telling the city," he said.

According to the Mayor of Viseu, this initiative was born in partnership with the Cine Clube de Viseu and is still the result of "the important work of restoration and conservation that Cinemateca has developed".

"This is an example of the positive partnerships that we want to develop in the field of culture and the dissemination of heritage," he added.

The film 'Viseu' dates back to 1930 and is written by Captain Almeida Moreira - an inescapable figure from the city of Viseu and founder of the Grão Vasco Museum - who decided to record "the almost unknown regional wonders" at that time.

The film 'Viseu: The Garden City of Beira Interior' dates back to 1936 and the signing of Amélia Borges da Silva, who achieved a rare visual production of public life in Viseu, with a display of its historic center, main streets, Squares and monuments.

"In the case of Amélia Borges Rodrigues' 1936 film, we are even faced with a tape that is completely unknown to the general public, moviegoers and historians. This was a finding that happened in the course of already designing a special edition of the Captain's movie, "he said.

For the mayor, both films are an important visual testimony of the city and a period vision about the tourist promotion of Viseu, proposing a script that reconciles urban and rural heritage and culture.

"I also want to highlight in this presentation the innovation we have made in adding a soundtrack to Captain Almeida Moreira's film, thus creating a new viewing experience, perhaps more attractive for today's audiences. This reconciliation of audiences with heritage is very important" , Stressed.

The soundtrack is the responsibility of the Regional Conservatory of Music of Viseu, which selected and interpreted a set of works by contemporary composers of the film, such as António Fragoso and Freitas Branco, with the exception of a theme by maestro António Victorino de Almeida.

"This edition is in some way also a tribute to the visionary figure and to the progressive sense of Almeida Moreira, in the year of the Centenary of the National Museum of the Basque Country and of the Paços do Concelho," he concluded.
