The exhibition features a rich collection of tiles from the collections of the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve: from furnace to architectural, from terracotta to painted. The opportunity to compare Russian ceramics with the western and eastern ceramics appeared thanks to the exhibits from the collection of the Rybinsk Museum-Reserve. The theme "A model for imitation or free interpretation?" Is revealed in the works of contemporary ceramist artists.
In the center of the hall is a complex in which you can see how the tiles are made. Specially for the exhibition was a video about the work of one of the masters of the Yaroslavl Restoration School of tiles - Leonid Kachalov. Изразец – один из самых узнаваемых брендов нашего города. Именно использованием этих ярких керамических изделий во многом определен уникальный образ ярославских храмов 17 столетия. Век расцвета ярославской архитектуры совпал с веком расцвета русского изразца, и наш город по праву занимает особое место на изразцовой карте России. А в 20 веке Ярославль прославился как центр реставрации керамического декора храмов. Наши мастера восстанавливали изразцы для всей страны.
- Так получилось, что процесс «миграции» технологий, мотивов, орнаментов керамических плиток и изразцов, как минимум, в масштабах Евразии длится уже тысячи лет, - рассказала куратор выставки Екатерина Змеева. – Ярославль стал одной из самых ярких точек на карте Евразии в 17 веке. Это действительно был город, где встретился Восток с Западом. Культурные материальные явления, отражающие этот процесс, это, прежде всего, изразцы.
На выставке представлена богатая коллекция изразцов из фондов Ярославского музея-заповедника: от печных до архитектурных, от терракотовых до расписных. Возможность сравнить русскую керамику с западной и восточной появилась благодаря экспонатам из коллекции Рыбинского музея-заповедника. Тема «Изразец для подражания или вольной интерпретации?» раскрыта в работах современных художников-керамистов.
В центре зала – комплекс, в котором можно увидеть, как делают изразцы. Специально для выставки был снят видеоролик о работе одного из мастеров ярославской школы реставрации изразцов – Леонида Качалова. Рядом расположились форма для изготовления изразца, образцы глазури, обожженный изразец-новодел. На выставке можно узнать все тонкости процесса изготовления изразцов, какие вещества добавлялись в краски для из росписи. Удивительно, что традиционное для ярославских изразцов пятицветие включало в себя 45 оттенков!
