The manifestations of Afro culture have become Intangible Cultural Heritage of Uberaba. Decree 1341, published on November 17 in the official newspaper of the Municipality, includes the Ternos de Congados, Moçambiques, Afoxé, Catupé and Vilão in the Register of Forms of Expression presented by the Council of Historic and Artistic Heritage of Uberaba (Conphau ). The information was disclosed by the City Hall last Friday (24).

"They are 130 years of history, in which the groups take to the streets to celebrate the date of the abolition of the slavery through cultural manifestations," observed Marques.

According to the administration, decree accompanies Municipal Law 10,717, of December 17, 2008, which establishes the norms for the protection of intangible cultural heritage of Uberaba.

According to the law, cultural manifestations are subject to the established protection guidelines, considering that it is the duty of the public power to grant special protection to cultural assets of an intangible nature of the municipality that justify the public interest in its preservation.

For the president of the Cultural Foundation of Uberaba, Antônio Carlos Marques, the decree is very important for the manifestations of Afro culture because the groups receive support from the city and, in some way, highlights a cultural aspect that runs the risk of be left aside.

As manifestações da cultura afro se tornaram Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial de Uberaba. O decreto 1341, publicado no dia 17 de novembro no jornal oficial do Município, inclui os Ternos de Congados, Moçambiques, Afoxé, Catupé e Vilão no Livro de Registro das Formas de Expressão, apresentado pelo Conselho de Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico de Uberaba (Conphau). A informação foi divulgada pela Prefeitura na última sexta-feira (24).

"São 130 anos de história, na qual os grupos saem às ruas para comemorar a data da abolição da escravatura através de manifestações culturais", observou Marques.

De acordo com a administração, decreto acompanha a Lei Municipal nº 10.717, de 17 de dezembro de 2008, que estabelece as normas de proteção do patrimônio cultural imaterial de Uberaba.

Conforme a lei, as manifestações culturais ficam sujeitas às diretrizes de proteção estabelecidas, considerando ser dever do poder público conceder proteção especial aos bens culturais de natureza imaterial do município que justifiquem o interesse público na sua preservação.

Para o presidente da Fundação Cultural de Uberaba, Antônio Carlos Marques, o decreto é muito importante para as manifestações da cultura afro porque os grupos passam a ter respaldo por parte da cidade e, de alguma forma, destaca uma vertente cultural que corre o risco de ser deixada de lado.
