Curator of the US National Herbarium will talk about the group of lianas, plants known as woody vines

On December 8, a new USP Lectures takes place with the theme Neotropical lianas: diversity and evolution. The woody vine plants, as they are also called the lianas, are still little studied. The name climber derives from the way they act: they climb on other plants to reach the top. In the event, given by Pedro Acevedo, the diversity and evolution of the species will be discussed.

The botanist is a curator and researcher at the US National Herbarium at the National Museum of Natural History - Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, USA. He is currently an associate researcher at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden.

USP Lectures will take place on December 8, at 9 am, at the Red Auditorium of the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH) of USP. The event is free, with registration in place, half an hour before it starts.

Curador do US National Herbarium falará sobre o grupo da lianas, plantas conhecidas como trepadeiras lenhosas

No dia 8 de dezembro, ocorre um novo USP Lectures com o tema Neotropical lianas: diversity and evolution. As plantas trepadeiras lenhosas, como também são chamadas as lianas, ainda são pouco estudadas. O nome trepadeira deriva do modo como agem: sobem em outras plantas para alcançarem o topo. No evento, ministrado por Pedro Acevedo, será discutida a diversidade e evolução da espécie.

O botânico é curador e pesquisador do US National Herbarium no National Museum of Natural History – Smithsonian Institution, em Washington, nos Estados Unidos. Atualmente é pesquisador associado a Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden.

O USP Lectures acontece no dia 8 de dezembro, às 9 horas, no Auditório Vermelho da Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades (EACH) da USP. O evento é gratuito, com inscrição no local, meia hora antes de seu início.
