Qipao: Tradition and Transition. - Qipao: Tradição e Transição. - 旗袍：传统与过渡。

The present exhibition intends to create a dialogue between the classical qipao and modern transformations. 

Simultaneously it displays a selection of the extensive qipao collection of the departmental Chinese Textiles and Clothing Culture Center at Fu Jen Catholic University and the creative qipao-inspired fashion designs of Assistant Professor Don, Kuo-Dung Lin. 

While the extreme elegance and quest for beauty of the classical qipao exerts limitations on the freedom of bodily movement and sacrifices a certain amount of physical comfort, the new generation of designers attempt to transcend those limitations in ways of their own, experimenting with new technologies including digital print, playing freely with the real and non-real, resulting into something more wearable and fashionable, befitting the sense of self and beauty of 21st century women in the global setting.

A presente exposição pretende criar um diálogo entre o qipao clássico e as transformações modernas.

Simultaneamente, exibe uma seleção da extensa coleção de qipao do Centro de Cultura Têxtil e Vestuário Chinês departamental na Universidade Católica Fu Jen e os criativos designs de moda inspirados em qipao do Professor Auxiliar Don, Kuo-Dung Lin.

Embora a extrema elegância e a busca da beleza do qipao clássico existam limitações à liberdade de movimentos corporais e sacrificem uma certa quantidade de conforto físico, a nova geração de designers tenta transcender essas limitações de maneiras próprias, experimentando novas tecnologias, incluindo impressão digital, jogando livremente com o real e não real, resultando em algo mais "wearable" se pode vestir. e elegante, conforme o senso de auto e beleza das mulheres do século XXI no cenário global.
