The world’s only museum of calligraphy --- O único museu de caligrafia do mundo ---

There are expositions dedicated to the art of fine writing in some of the largest fine arts museums of the world, but the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is the only museum dedicated entirely to this art form.

In the museum you find yourself in a wondrous world consisting of beautiful symbols, perfect lines and absolute harmony. Every variety of calligraphy creates its own specific mood:

Arabic ornamental script, the basis of Muslim calligraphy;

European calligraphy, tracing its roots to antiquity;

The ancient art of Chinese calligraphy;

The laconic Japanese calligraphy

Slavic writing close to the heart of every Russian person.

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is not just a museum. It is an international culture and educational centre with unique exhibitions, excursions and workshops held at the venue.

There are high-quality museum tours for children and adults. The Museum also provides custom services:

Audiovisual equipment for media demonstrations and presentations;

Exclusive tours complying with any unusual demands: e.g., individual or night-time tours;

A mobile museum. We can deliver selected artworks or thematic collections from our vast exposition to your location.

Everyone can master calligraphic writing

Many people wish they had refined firm writing. It is easier for a modern person to type a text than to write it accurately by hand.

This is especially true for school children who often have no idea how beautiful and engaging calligraphy writing can be.

That’s why we invite everyone to the National School of Calligraphy based at the Museum.

There are calligraphy and lettering courses for children and adults prepared by leading calligraphy masters, aimed at all levels of preparation.

Mastering the art of calligraphy will not only help you develop the skill of writing beautiful letters and words; you will discover a new way of relaxing, submerging into your private world and managing the stresses of the everyday world.

Script ornamental árabe, a base da caligrafia muçulmana;

Caligrafia europeia, rastreando suas raízes para a antiguidade;

A arte antiga da caligrafia chinesa;

A caligrafia japonesa lacônica

Underground walks reveal what is good beneath the earth, --- Passeios subterrâneos revelam o que há de bom debaixo da terra,

Embark on these schedules seven or more feet from the ground and meet museums, wineries, mines, and more

Forget the sunshine, the outdoor walks, the parks, the traditional museums. There are interesting things to see and do underground. The climate of the tour can be gastronomic. In that case, the underground cellars that store the wines as they age will be their destination. And speaking of old age, the past comes to the surface within the deactivated mine tunnels - some with inland lakes. For a program with more funeral tone, you can visit the crypts of some churches around the world. There, where priests are buried, a journey through history will be unavoidable.

The catacombs or ossuaries, which collect skeletons a few feet off the ground, follow the proposal. A tour of the Paris Catacombs displays stacks of bones of about 7 million people, including killed in combat in the French Revolution. The bones are there because the cemeteries no longer held the number of corpses. So the idea of occupying part of the underground tunnels of Luz City came in the 18th century. "It has to have a stomach," recounts Caio Victor Paixão, 22, who ventured into the tunnels last December.

The student made the journey accompanied by a friend, shortly after visiting the Cathedral of Notre Dame. "It's a not-so-flashy, over-hidden place. Leaving a subway station, you see a little green-painted little house with a giant front row. You go through a ratchet and descend a snail-shaped ladder for 20 meters. It seems that there is no end. "

The feeling of claustrophobia is growing for the more sensitive, he reports. "I remembered a horror movie that was going on in the Catacombs and I stopped in the middle of the road, wondering what I was doing there," he recalls. The friend went on a trip and saw the bones at the end of the course. Caius came back from there, "he said to those who had asked for a call, and who had to leave. "Up on the ratchet, people were laughing at me. It is a fantastic experience. Fear is not of the bones. The bad is the feeling of being under the earth. The tunnel did not fit with open arms. Superindico, but I'm not going anymore, "he jokes.

Underground routes

From churches to wineries, through military hideouts, check out five tours under the earth selected by Tourism.

Liquid State Wines & Spirits / Reproduction
Cellar Cricova Oenotec (Moldavia)
The tunnels of one of the world's largest wineries house more than one million bottles, labeled by about 600 different brands, along 113km of under-ground paths. In addition to storage, there is plenty of space for tasting and dining rooms. During the Soviet regime, only politicians and celebrities could enter. President Mikhail Gorbachev and astronaut Iuri Gagarin have passed by. Vladimir Putin has his private collection there, as well as Herman Göring, founder of the Gestapo (German political police).

Wieliczka Salt Mine (Poland)
The collection of a museum on mining is laid out in the tunnels of this old Polish salt mine that operated in the 18th century. Many people marry in the place, which has a church made of salt. The depth is about 300m. Sculptures made of the same material - such as that of Pope John Paul II, born in Poland - adorn the interior of the mine and illustrate the history of mining in the country. The descent includes more than a thousand steps, but there is no reason for despair - in the back, an elevator facilitates the climb.

Minas do Camaquã (Rio Grande do Sul)
Copper mining in Caçapava do Sul (260km from Porto Alegre) ended in 1989 and many people left the city. Today, one of the attractions of the place goes back to this golden age. The tourist can walk through the underground galleries where the extraction of metals occurred. Interconnected, tunnels total 43km and are 300m deep. Outside, there is a flooded crater 350 meters deep, where it is possible to row under supervision. Another option is to climb Pedra da Cruz, which is 1,100m high, and get off the zip line.

Crypt of the Cathedral (São Paulo)

The Sé Cathedral is one of the most emblematic buildings of São Paulo, in the center of the city. Inside it, under the main altar, there are sculptures and tombs of historical characters, such as the cacique Tibiriçá - one of the first Indians to be catechized by the Jesuits. The remains of the inventor of the balloons, Father Bartolomeu de Gusmão, are also there. Who looks up sees the Gothic style recorded on the ceiling. The place is not stuffy - the right foot is seven meters.
The guided tour costs R $ 7 per person.

Cu Chi Tunnels (Vietnam)
Built during the Vietnam War by the Vietcong (guerrillas), the system of underground tunnels about 100km long and only one meter in diameter was one of the main permanent hideouts of soldiers during the war. Today, tourists can explore a part of the tunnel and meet the command centers, dining halls and spaces that accommodated the wounded - much like hospitals. In addition, war relics and traps are on display at 40km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Minas do Camaquã (Rio Grande do Sul)
