Bixiga 70 au musée du quai Branly. --- Bixiga 70 at the musée du quai Branly. --- Bixiga 70 no Museu Quai Branly.

Bixiga 70 at the musée du quai Branly.

Bixiga 70 is a big band made up of ten musicians from São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. In the tradition of Orquestra Imperial, the group brings new life to Brazilian music by mixing traditional rhythms and contemporary influences.

The compositions of Bixiga 70 are delightfully schizophrenic. Indeed, the big band fires all wood inspired by the great classics of Latin America and West Africa and adding to the whole of Western influences. Bixiga 70 mixes samba, cumbia and other carimbo with jazz, electro and afrobeat fulgurances. An unstoppable mix! Indeed, the very name of the band is a bridge between Africa and America: "Bixiga 70" is the fusion of the neighborhood of which the group originates - Bixiga therefore - and the legendary big band of Fela Kuti: Africa 70.

Bixiga 70 performs songs from her first three albums: "Bixiga 70" (2011), "Occupai" (2014) and "III" (2015) at the Green Theater of the musée du quai Branly. Three opus with an explosive cocktail that reaches its climax on stage. Impossible not to succumb to the charm of the ten Brazilians!

MOTHER OF SANTO AUSTRÍAC POPULARIZES UMBANDA AND CANDOMBLÉ IN SWITZERLAND. - MÃE DE SANTO AUSTRÍACA POPULARIZA UMBANDA E CANDOMBLÉ NA SUÍÇA.

By Liliana Tinoco Baeckert, Swissinfo.ch - Iya Habiba is spiritual mentor of the Holy Land, named after the terreiro. With a background in psychotherapy, the mother of the saint believes that candomblé and umbanda can function as allies in the treatment of various ills: the connection with nature and the focus on the body as instruments of meditation help to break the bonds of today's inflexible society.

Austrian Astrid Habiba Kreszmeier, known as Iya Habiba, has been the mother of a saint in Switzerland since 2006; It is a pioneer and stands out in the religion of African roots for being white, European and for spreading in German-speaking Europe a practice taken to Brazil by slaves;

The Terra Sacres Terraces are present in Graz, Vienna, Berlin, Bern, Zurich and St. Gallen. Iya Habiba coordinates the six spaces, where he leads tours, guides rituals, forms other leaders and participates in spiritual healings, as well as other activities related to candomblé and umbanda. The numbers of participants surprise: the Sacred Land counts 77 mediums and an audience of 800 practitioners; In Switzerland there are 37 mediums and an audience of 500 people. The terreiro unites the tradition of the world of Orixás, Candomblé, Umbanda, Santeria and the tradition of natural cures from the Yoruba and Banto cultures, as well as psychotherapy, sociology of religions and philosophy.

Swissinfo.ch: Because you are Austrian, raised in Europe, how did you become a saint of Candomblé?

Iya Habiba: I never sought this religion because I did not even know it existed. As a psychotherapist focused on healing through body and nature, I found umbanda and candomblé. I have always focused my work on alternative paths, on non-rationalist philosophical perspectives. In this way, I went to a congress of Indigenous Traditions in 1992 in Morocco. There I had a magical and inspiring encounter with a Brazilian Holy Father, Father Buby, who gave a lecture on religion.

Later I participated in a workshop, where the message can be deepened. At that moment I felt the call. That same day, Father Buby wrote his contact on a small piece of paper, with an invitation to go to Bulle, here in Switzerland. This Father de santo already supervised a group in Geneva, the country's first terreiro. I was then invited to start in religion. I began to learn and study. He became, then, my master.

My initiation took 12 years. During this period, I went to Brazil several times, I did up to three trips a year. The trips to São Paulo, more precisely near Embu das Artes, where the Terreiro is located, included receiving teachings about rituals, customs and the strengthening of the spiritual tradition. I learned how to incorporate spiritual entities, such as lighting a candle, for example.

Swissinfo.ch: Why did you bring religion to Switzerland?

I.H .: Because the Orixás wanted it that way. When I started, I still lived in Austria. For personal reasons, I married a Swiss, I moved to the country. Here we had the opportunity to acquire a perfect home for religious practices. In Appenzellerland, in the village of Stein, we got this space, where, in 2006, we founded the first terreiro in the country. The land is isolated, has a river with spring, a large green space, where we can work well at will. Nature still provides a better connection with the divine. There we set up sacred altars to do the rituals.

It is a perfect environment for rhythmic dances and the incorporation of spiritual forces and healing trance, allowing the practice of non-linear time of a terreiro and the liberation of the moorings of the Swiss clock. In other terreiros within cities, we have to respect the law of silence and stop the batuques at 10 o'clock. The tours in Appenzellerland reach 40 people drumming.

Swissinfo.ch: And what is the relationship between psychotherapy and umbanda and candomblé?

I.H .: Religion follows an oral tradition, in which learning is passed by the body through practical experience. The belief is that each has its sacred ground, which is the connection of the body with nature and the planet. The very decision to acquire the house had to do with this premise. Spiritual time is not the same as chronological time. And it is precisely this unbridled attempt to adapt life to the exaggerated linear effort one of the causes of so many diseases. Many ills have their origin in inflexibility, in the imprisonment of ideas. Nature can hardly breathe in our modern life. The umbanda tradition opens space for a parallel world. In this other dimension, one meditates with the body.

Our society, however, has been trained for more than three thousand years to ignore the body's signals. Our way of living, our relationship with time, with speed and with the high level of information, disconnects us from our essence and does not give way to happiness. The pressure of subsistence, of paying, of possessing more and more, promotes the separation between the natural and creates a superficial field.

Swissinfo.ch: Who are the regulars and what is the relationship between religion and the migratory aspects?

I.H .: We have Brazilians, Portuguese, Swiss and other Europeans. There are regular regulars, who always go; And others more sporadic, appearing only two or three times a year. Berlin is now our newest tour. It is a city with enormous potential and many needs.

The relationship between religious practice and migrant status is enormous. I say this based on the issues addressed during the spiritual consultations. The migrants bring all their problems to the sessions. Finding work is usually a recurring theme. But in general people come for a variety of issues, ranging from illness, relationship problems, to domestic violence.

MÃE DE SANTO AUSTRÍACA POPULARIZA UMBANDA E CANDOMBLÉ NA SUÍÇA.

Austríaca Astrid Habiba Kreszmeier, conhecida como Iya Habiba, é mãe de santo na Suíça desde 2006; ela é pioneira e se destaca na religião de raízes africanas por ser branca, europeia e por difundir na Europa de língua alemã uma prática levada para o Brasil pelos escravos;

Comecei a me inteirar e a estudar.

I.H.: Porque os Orixás quiseram assim.

I.H.: Temos brasileiros, portugueses, suíços e outros europeus.

Military Museum Capitão Pitaluga, in Valença, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. - Museu Militar Capitão Pitaluga, em Valença, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

On the 1st Light Cavalry Squadron (1st Esqd CL), Lieutenant Amaro Squadron, this was the only Unit of the 2nd Army Division outside the State of São Paulo that left for World War II, also keeping another singularity, more interesting: Of only troops of Cavalry of the Brazilian Army to fight in Italian soil.

When they returned to Brazil in 1945, the expeditionaries of the then 1st Reconnaissance Squadron (1st Esqd Rec) brought with them memories and spoils of war. A rich material, loaded with history and, 57 years later, gave life to the Military Museum Captain Pitaluga, in Valença, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The name of the museum is a tribute to the second commander of the 1st Esqd Rec during World War II. The then Captain Plínio Pitaluga assumed the command of the Unit in December of 1944, when the Squadron was stationed, next to all the Division of Infantry Expedicionária Brasileira, in front of Monte Castelo.

The Museum reserves a room on the first floor to tell the story of this illustrious character of our history through a vast personal collection donated by the family. In the enclosure, it is possible to follow, in a television, an interview of General Plínio Pitaluga to the Globe News. "I felt, at that moment, that if I took a German counterattack - and I was 80 miles from the Infantry - I would be destroyed. But then I acted calmly and quietly. And the Brazilian soldier must have in his luggage a bit of luck too, "recalled the General in recounting the persecution of the Germans after crossing the Panaro River, in the context of the Spring Offensive in April 1945, which would lead to the capitulation of 14,779 Enemies in Fornovo Di Taro at the end of the month.

Still on the ground floor of the museum, visitors may come across other rare pieces: the Daily Squad Bulletin during the war, military letters, uniforms, and campaign supplies. Later, the Captain Bertha Moares Room honors the "Squadron Godmother" and the First Health Battalion, which at the time was installed in Valença, at the current headquarters of the 1st Esqd C L.

In the enclosure, there is an exhibition of medical and dental campaign material. Several museum environments have audiovisual material that stimulates the visitor's other senses, making him reflect on the scenario faced by the expeditionaries. A Montese model after the battle portrays the occupation of the M-8 Greyhound armor and the beginning of the mission to take advantage of the success of the 1st Esqd Rec in the Spring Offensive.

On the second floor, the General Otto Fretter-Pico Room preserves the enemy's memory of war: Nazi streamers, medals and German campaign material, among them the famous "Lurdinha", or MG 42, the dreaded German machine gun used in World War II . There is also a room to tell the story of the 1st Aviation Group of the Brazilian Air Force, another that exposes communications material used in the Campania of Italy and a library with a vast bibliography on the Brazilian Expeditionary Force.

The mission of preserving the history of the FEB and the Squadron continues to be passed among the curators of the museum, which today composes the International Museum Circuit. Currently, the task is in the hands of 1st Ten Calixto. "Expeditionists no longer visit the museum: the fear of being moved and the risk that the heart can not handle is great," he said.

The current commander of the 1st Esqd C L, Captain Rafael Barbosa Pereira, commented on the great relationship of the Squadron with the local society. "As a result of the work of former commanders, this relationship is exceptional even because the Squadron is part of the history of Valencia. It is difficult to have a Valencian family who did not have or had a relative who served in the Squadron. This relationship is a legacy and therefore there is an even greater responsibility in wearing the olive green uniform in Valencia, "he said.

The Capitão Pitaluga Military Museum is located inside the 1st Esqd C L, located at Avenida Comendador Antônio Jannuzzi, 415, Valença (RJ).

The visitation is from Monday to Thursday, from 8am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm, and on Fridays only in the morning. The museum still opens its doors on weekends for groups, provided prior scheduling with the Public Relations Section at (24) 2458-4424, ext. 22.

O atual comandante do 1° Esqd C L, Capitão Rafael Barbosa Pereira, comentou o ótimo relacionamento do Esquadrão com a sociedade local.
