Maya Codexes: The Remaining Valuable Date of a Demolished Civilization.

Mayalar M.S is a powerful pre-Columbian civilization that developed between the years 600 and 800. They could read and write, and there was a complex language with pictograms, objects and phonetic presentations. Even the books codenamed allegedly tell some of the 800 years of history are produced. However, the contents of these books contradicted their missions, the systematic conquests of Franciscan missionaries in the middle of the sixteenth century in Spain and almost all of these codexes were destroyed during the colonization of South America. Only three or four of these important documents have reached the day-to-day date, but even this provides an invaluable insight into the Mayan world.

Mayan Codexes Surviving Survival

For years it was thought that the codexes were made of agave fiber, but in 1910 it was discovered that the fig tree was actually made from the inner shells. The codexes, written in long strips, then folded in accordion to hide. The remaining Codexes contain information on Mayan astronomy, astrology, religion and ceremonies.

Codexes are called Dresden, Paris and Madrid, which are three cities in which they have three. And it's probably still being examined for fourth-degree correctness. Codexes probably can not have been written before the 12th century AD, which means they were written later in the Mayans. But they are likely to have been copied from older books. According to Arkeoastronom Anthony Aveni, the codexes were usually used to organize the dates of the ceremonies that linked them to astronomical events. Each page in the Codex usually depicts a god and contains a series of beats describing what God is doing. These pages also included lists of numbers that allowed the Mayans to predict the moon and sun eclipses, moon phases of Mars and Venus's movements. On the other pages were lists of dates and symbols related to prophecies and signs.

The 6-page Dresden Codex which depicts the embellishments,

Dresden Codex
The Dresden Codex is the most complete of the Mayan Codexes that arrive daily. It was purchased in 1739 from the Royal Library in Dresden after being purchased from a private collector. It was produced without writing more than eight and is believed to have been built between the years 1000 and 1200 AD during the Post-Classical Mayan Period. The Codex is primarily associated with astronomy because it relates to the days of the year, calendars, farming, prophecies, and the like. In addition to this, there are also parts of the codex related to diseases and medicine. During the Second World War the Dresden Codex was worn out by too much water in Dresden Fire Storms. So the copies were removed before the battle was used for research unlike the original.

These codices are the product of the work of professional scribes who worked under the patronage of the Monkey Gods. The Mayans developed their huun around the 5th century, and compared to papyrus it was more durable and more appropriate to writing.

Currently the codices have the names of the cities where they are stored. The Dresden Codex is generally considered the most important of the few that remain of the majority that were destroyed by the Spanish during the invasion of Latin America.

The Dresden Codex is housed in the Sächsische Landesbibliothek, the state library of Dresden, Germany. It is the most elaborate of the Mayan codices as well as an important work of art. Many sections are ritualistic (including so-called "almanacs"), others are of astrological nature (eclipses, Venus cycle). The codex is written on a long sheet of paper folded so as to produce a book of 39 sheets, written on both sides. It must have been written shortly before the Spanish conquest. It somehow arrived in Europe and was purchased by the royal library of the court of Saxony in Dresden in the year 1739.

Codexes maia sobrevive a sobrevivência

Oscar Niemeyer Museum, in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, will exhibit works by the collective Los Carpinteros. - Museu Oscar Niemeyer, em Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil, exibirá obras do coletivo Los Carpinteros.

The show of Cuban artists, which are among the most acclaimed of today, will be on display from August 22, 2017.

The Oscar Niemeyer Museum will exhibit more than 60 works from one of today's most acclaimed collectives, Los Carpinteros, formed by Cuban artists Marco Castillo and Dagoberto Rodriguez and curated by Rodolfo Athayde.

The exhibition, called Los Carpinteros: Objeto Vital, includes drawings, watercolors, sculptures, installations and videos, and will occupy 2 rooms. The exhibition has three thematic segments: Craft Object, Owned Object and Object Space, which propose a reflection on the reality and aesthetics of reuse, raising questions such as the usefulness of objects.

The creations of artists are recognized by strong social appeal and acid criticism, good-humored and sagacious. Since 1992, the collective, which initially counted on the participation of the designer Alexandre Jesús Arrechea Zambrano, produces pieces full of implied meanings and references, mixing design, sculpture and architecture.

The name "Los Carpinteros" comes precisely from the identification of Marco and Dagobert with carpentry, the material used and the rescue of the craft as an aesthetic strategy. The group has already exhibited at some of the world's largest museums, such as the MoMA and the Guggenheim in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the TATE Gallery in London. They have also passed through Mexico, Japan, France and Switzerland, among other countries.

The show runs until December 5, and can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Over 60s and under 12s have free admission.

Aspiring archaeologists at the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais. - Arqueólogos aspirantes no Musée du Pays Châtillonnais.

This summer, the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais, in Châtillon-sur-Seine, offers a series of activities for young and old. This Wednesday, August 16, children from 7 to 12 years old could thus learn the art of archaeological excavations.

Under a tent set up in the museum's gardens, around sand-filled containers, 16 apprentice archaeologists work, armed with buckets, trowels and brushes. The museum's staff responsible for supervising children, such as Véronique Sulliot, a heritage assistant, was trained by archaeologists from Inrap, the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research.

Two ferries are at the disposal of budding archaeologists. In the first, animal bones were buried. "On the site of Vertillum, (In the commune of Vertault, Editor's note), we discovered a sanctuary where horses and dogs were sacrificed," says Véronique Sulliot, "so we made a ferry for the children to work with Bones of animals. "

Real archaeological objects

In the second tank, larger, a good quantity of objects is concealed. These are real archaeological artefacts, drawn from the museum's reserves. "We have shards of Gaulish and Gallo-Roman ceramics, a bronze vase to make the connection with the vase of Vix, another ceramic vase with Greek motifs, bottlenecks of amphorae. "

If the children follow the instructions given to them and work in the manner of the true archaeologists, these objects are not at risk, as Mateo, 9, explains: "first digging with the trowel, That one feels something hard, one takes the brush ".

A treasure hunt that enthralls Godefroy, 10 years: "these are real objects. It's not every day that we can do that, it's full of surprises. " Christiano, 11, walked in the footsteps of his uncle: "my uncle is an archaeologist, so I wanted to try too. One can say that it is a job of patience, since one must dig up the object without touching it ". Even if the temptation may be strong, there is no question of leaving discreetly with an ancient memory. The museum staff is watching over.

The next animation at the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais will be on August 23, an event entitled "Create or recreate? "In connection with the temporary exhibition" Antiquity of design, Design of antiquity ". Children and adults will learn how to make beautiful and poetic by recycling objects.
