The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 11 am and from 1 pm to 5 pm, at Rua Minas Gerais, 180, in the center
Flowers, fruits, angels, animals. Nothing escapes the sensibility of the artist Lúcia Batista Leal. who took his art to the Municipal Gallery of Arts "Edith Nogueira Santos". Working with the crochet, Lúcia weaves several characters and figures, with great delicacy and refinement - in addition to techniques learned in the times of children. There are 40 works exhibited until the 26th, which can be visited free of charge, at Rua Minas Gerais, downtown.
The artist Lúcia Batista Leal was born in Júlio Mesquita in 1955, daughter of humble farmers, being the second of 13 brothers. Mother of two children, the artisan learned how to crochet before she even read and write, with neighbors coming from Bahia. The line he used to do his work was the one he could get by sacking sugar bags.
With the passage of time and improvement of the technique. Lúcia went on to exhibit her works in several cities in Brazil receiving titles, awards and invitations to participate in fairs, meetings and events, always with appreciations and positive evaluations, such as in the Project Revealing São Paulo, event held by the Secretariat of Culture of the State of São Paulo for more than a decade, where he was one of the highlights, winning awards.
Currently she lives in a place in the Barrio Itiratupã, and dominates like no one this manual technique, being able to transform any drawing that you wish in a piece of fillet crochet.

The time of the conquests is already there, but what is left of them is not. There are still Portuguese monuments present, on at least four continents, that you might not know.
Salvador - Church and Convent of São Francisco
The Portuguese soul is in many corners of the world and the seven wonders of Portuguese origin, elected in 2009, are a real and impressive example of this. From Africa to the Americas or Asia, look down on the Portuguese monuments that help us keep Portuguese culture alive. The culture of a European country, spread in so many diverse communities and sculptures all over the world. Embark and make this incredible trip with us! Old Town of Santiago, Cape Verde Fortaleza de São Filipe - Old City of Santiago
Portuguese colonial influence was one of the greatest conservation weapons of Portuguese culture. And one of the places that has been able to pass this on chemical paper to the present day is, not surprisingly, the African continent. Let's fly to Cape Verde, to the Old Town of Santiago. We are in the first city built by the Europeans south of the Sahara Desert and considered in 2009 as one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World.
Its multiplicity and local riches make it a place of excellence where the Portuguese heritage is more notable beyond borders: from pillories, to Manueline style churches, to the Company of Jesus, urbanization of the streets ... Formerly called Ribeira Grande in the 15th century, this was the first capital of Cape Verde and the seat of the first diocese of the West African coast. And, of course, it was here also that the brave navigators, Vasco da Gama and Christopher Columbus, made stops to reach India and the Americas, respectively. The world has passed through Cape Verde and you should also pass by.
Cheap flights to Praia Fortress of Mazagão, Morocco Cistern in the Fortress of Mazagão
If we had lived through the year 1541, we would have seen this monument to be built. But nevertheless, we are still going to time to savor your image. The Fortress of Mazagão, in Morocco, is currently one of the Portuguese monuments and one of the Portuguese fortresses in better state of conservation, where you can see a mixture of Portuguese and Moroccan culture.
Its room has a star shape, walls slightly sloping and about 8 feet high and 10 feet thick. It is believed to serve as a storage for weapons, before being transformed into a reservoir of water, which reflects the light that enters through the large window at the top. There are also a large number of Portuguese artillery pieces on display in the gunboats. Do not be surprised if we tell you that this place has also served as inspiration and loan to scenes of the Seventh Art in films produced, for example, by Francis Ford Coppola. Few people know that this Portuguese cultural heritage has already figured in movies of great film directors.
Cheap flights to Casablanca Cheap flights to Casablanca Fort of Diu, India
Rocky, penetrating. This Portuguese cultural heritage is one of the most robust Portuguese monuments. And it is for these reasons that she was elected one of the wonders. The Fort of Diu, India, started in 1535 and was considered one of the best fortifications in the Portuguese State of India.
Strategically well placed, it suffered several attacks from Arabs, Turks and Indians, and remained intact at its root. It was an important place in the maritime trade of spices and silks, and the seven kilometers of perimeter give it a size of pride for those who live in Diu.
Do not forget: when you are planning your spiritual retreat in India, place the Diu Fortress in the obligatory places to visit. After all, it is one of the 7 Wonders of Portuguese origin and a representative of Portuguese culture spread throughout the world!
Cheap flights to Mumbai Cheap hotels in Mumbai Basilica of Bom Jesus, India The front facade of the Basilica of Bom Jesus - One of the Portuguese monuments around the world
It was born and grew in just nine years (a building record for the 16th century) and is the birthplace of the tomb of St. Francis Xavier, considered the Apostle of the East. In 1946, it became the first basilica of India, yet remains of the Portuguese monuments where it is still possible to make pilgrimage nowadays.
Inside, you can step on the floor made of marble and the precious stones inlaid. The altar is dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola and its columns are Ionic, Doric and Corinthian. Ah, just as in the previous marvel, in India, places this basilica on the list of Portuguese monuments to be known.
Church of St. Francis of Assisi of Penitence, BrazilThe Church of St. Francis of Assisi of Penance We are in Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil! The Baroque decoration makes of the Church of San Francisco of
Penitence one of the most important of the city and erected between 1790
and 1794 by the Third Order of San Francisco de Assis. The facade of this building, unusual for religious things, makes it stand out. The portals are of lioz stone and the twisted and baroque wedges. Inside, the astonishment is something you will not miss. With gilded carving on the altars and walls and wooden ceiling
painting, the church will instill a sense of respect for such greatness.Yes, and do not marvel. This
Portuguese heritage is the work of the Portuguese (of course!) Manuel
de Brito and Francisco Xavier de Brito and Caetano da Costa Coelho, the
latter responsible for painting on the ceiling. Today, the church is also Museum of Sacred Art. To go, when you visit the state of Minas.Cheap flights to Belo Horizonte Cheap flights to Belo HorizonteConvent of São Francisco and Terceira Order, BrazilThe stunning altar of the Convent of San Francisco and Third Order Still
in Brazil, this convent excels for the beauty of its convent spaces
with its church and the power of its decorative tiles. Built
from 1713, by the hand of Manuel Quaresma, the building has incredible
details such as the history of the marriage of the future king D. José
with the princess D. Mariana Vitória told in the cloister of the church,
or what Lisbon was like before the earthquake of 1755, in more than 1500 square of tiles. It
is one of the best Portuguese monuments and one of the best examples of
Baroque art in Brazil and originated in times when Portugal was a giant
colonizer. Even the sandstone that covers the façade of the church went from Portugal to the other side of the Atlantic. São Salvador da Bahia is a lucky place to have this wealth in your soil ...Cheap flights to Salvador Cheap flights to SalvadorChurch of St. Paul, Macau - ChinaThe ruins of the Church of São Paulo Macau, an old place where until recently it was heard to speak in Portuguese in every corner. Now
under Chinese administration, Macanese territory still retains some
influence from the smaller rectangle more to the west of Europe. In this specific case, the influence of Portugal also traveled to Asia
and from this stood the Church of St. Paul, composed of the College
(first Western teaching institution in the East) and the famous ruins of
São Paulo. At
the top of a valiant 68-step granite staircase is the grand façade of
the church, which was destroyed in 1835 by a large fire. The beauty of this Portuguese cultural heritage was included in the Historic Center of Macau. This is the only baroque architecture in China! And she's Portuguese! Portuguese culture!
manter viva a cultura portuguesa.
no topo.
Rochosa, penetrante. Este património cultural português é dos mais
robustos monumentos portugueses existentes.
Apóstolo do Oriente.
portugueses a conhecer obrigatoriamente.
o território macaense ainda mantém algumas influência do pequeno
Cultura portuguesa!
