The Design Museum in London is one of the largest spaces dedicated to contemporary design in the world. Outside the traditional tourist route of London museums, the place is a must for anyone interested in the past and the future of design, but also entertains those who are not experts in the subject. The exhibits revolve around architecture, fashion and technology, and the building, by itself, is already an attraction.

At the end of 2016, the museum left the old premises in the south bank storeroom of the River Thames and moved to the new house in the Kensington area, one of London's most noble, at the gates of the charming Holland Park. It was a $ 115 million renovation, signed by Britain's John Pawson and the OMA architecture office of Dutchman Rem Koolhaas. There are ten thousand square meters of minimalist modernity.
The permanent exhibition "Designer Maker User" explores more than a thousand pieces that have changed the history of design from the twentieth century. Examples: the Vespa, the most iconic of scooters; the map of the London subway, one of the city's best-known drawings; the first Apple computers, worshiped by geeks; and the revolutionary 3D printers. The museum's proposal is to present a very comprehensive view of design, whether at the service of industry or art. In March, the show "Hope to Nope: graphics and politics 2008-2018" will feature graphic messages and images that have marked some of the most important events of the last decade, such as the Arab Spring and the Brexit campaign. In May, the museum will honor the designer Azzedine Alaïa, one of the great masters of haute couture deceased last year.

O Design Museum, em Londres, é um dos maiores espaços dedicados ao design contemporâneo no mundo. Fora do roteiro turístico tradicional dos museus londrinos, o lugar é obrigatório para quem se interessa pelo passado e o futuro do design, mas também diverte quem não é especialista no assunto. No fim de 2016, o museu deixou as antigas instalações no armazém da margem sul do Rio Tâmisa e se mudou para a casa nova na região de Kensignton, uma das mais nobres de Londres, às portas do charmoso Holland Park. Foi uma reforma de US$ 115 milhões, assinada pelo britânico John Pawson e pelo escritório de arquitetura OMA, do holandês Rem Koolhaas. São dez mil metros quadrados de modernidade minimalista.
A exposição permanente “Designer Maker User” explora mais de mil peças que mudaram a história do design a partir do século XX. Exemplos: a Vespa, a mais icônica das scooters; o mapa do metrô de Londres, um dos desenhos mais conhecidos da cidade; os primeiros computadores da Apple, cultuados pelos geeks; e as revolucionárias impressoras 3D. A proposta do museu é apresentar uma visão bem abrangente do design, seja a serviço da indústria ou da arte. Em março, a mostra “Hope to Nope: graphics and politics 2008-2018” exibirá mensagens gráficas e imagens que marcaram alguns dos acontecimentos mais importantes da última década, como a Primavera Árabe e a campanha do Brexit.
