A soup is the star of the Festival of Marmelo - Festival of Gastronomy, Culture and Art of Delfim Moreira (MG), which takes place this weekend and extended holiday. In its fourth year, the event takes to the public the tasting of soup and marmalade. In all, the two dishes carry almost 800 kilos of fruit.
The traditional quince soup was recorded as immaterial patrimony of the municipality. In preparing the recipe, a team will count on the help of the musician Mazinho Quevedo, this Saturday (28), at 16h. The singer continues at the party, where he does a show the same day, at 10 pm, alongside other bands.
The two dishes known in the region will be offered to the public in stands, which are open from Saturday to Tuesday, starting at 10am.
Contest
In addition to the quince, other typical products of the region saw inspiration in dishes that participate in a gastronomic contest during the party. The challenge is to use ingredients such as quince as well as trout, pine nuts, dairy and temperate fruits.
Participants, who have already been registered, will be evaluated by a jury on Tuesday (1st). Winners in the sweet and savory categories receive prizes.
Lectures, workshops and shows
Besides the tasting and the contest, the party continues in the four days with lectures on the influence of the fruit in the region. Experts will talk about production chain, business in the production and processing of quince.
One of the highlights is the lecture of a researcher and doctor Francisco de Carvalho Costa, who is also a master brewer and will talk about the use of fruit in the production of beverages. The organization also planned gastronomic workshops.
