O património cultural e religioso da província de Pontevedra, Espanha, é a base de vários produtos turísticos hoje apresentados no Porto para dinamizar a procura daquela região.

Segundo os dados do Serviço de Turismo das Rias Baixas, responsável pela conservação e promoção dos recursos turísticos da província de Pontevedra e do destino das Rias Baixas, Portugal é, depois de Espanha, o país com mais afluência de turistas na região, tendo sido no ano passado mais de 200 mil os portugueses que visitaram a Galiza.

A cultura e o património são apontados como os principais motivos da visita, seguidos da praia e da paisagem, sendo que o Caminho Português da Costa (Santiago) é um dos grandes atrativos para os visitantes portugueses, que são o principal grupo a fazer esta rota de peregrinação a Santiago de Compostela.

No total - adiantou fonte oficial do Turismo das Rias Baixas durante a apresentação da campanha de turismo da região para Portugal - no ano passado foram mais de 50.000 os peregrinos que fizeram esta rota, que atravessa a província de Pontevedra, com partida em Portugal.

A apresentação que hoje decorreu no Porto insere-se no plano estratégico de turismo da Deputación de Pontevedra, que prevê diferentes campanhas de promoção até 2020 para divulgar aquele destino e o seu "valor incomensurável em recursos culturais e naturais", que serviu de ponto de partida para a criação de produtos turísticos ligados ao património fortificado, arqueológico, paisagístico, literário, imaterial, natural, etnográfico, religioso e espiritual.

Em 2018, Ano Europeu do Património Cultural, o Plano Estratégico do Turismo das Rias Baixas tem agendadas várias campanhas de promoção em diversas cidades espanholas e portuguesas, nomeadamente Porto e Braga.


"Este ano a meta do turismo é apostar numa musealização inovadora que torne a visita dos turistas mais animada e focada no turismo familiar", adiantou fonte do Turismo das Rias Baixas, apontando como "outro grande objetivo valorizar e promover o Caminho Português ao Longo da Costa a partir de uma perspetiva integral em que o peregrino, além de percorrer a rota, descubra a cultura, as tradições ou as maravilhosas águas termais que podem ser encontradas ao longo desta rota".

Atualmente, os turistas estrangeiros que mais visitam a província de Pontevedra e o destino das Rias Baixas -- que diz ser o quinto destino espanhol em competitividade - são os portugueses, italianos e ingleses, sendo que 65% o fazem por motivos culturais e têm uma permanência média de sete a dez dias.

Os últimos cinco anos ficaram marcados pelo crescimento contínuo do número de turistas que visitaram a região, tendo em 2017 sido batido o máximo histórico de 1,5 milhões de visitantes, mais 13% do que em 2016.

Em termos de dormidas, em 2017 houve um aumento de 12% face ao ano anterior, para 3,6 milhões, sendo que 600 mil dormidas foram de visitantes estrangeiros.
