State of Piauí, Brazil.

"We have always had a special concern with indigenous culture, trying to aggregate these communities and not leave them in isolation. Alexander's research is of fundamental importance and we were fortunate enough to be able to bring it to the Piauí Museum ", says the coordinator of the Piauí Museum, Dora Medeiros.

The objective of the research in the Nazaré community is to plan the actions of a collaborative character that will result in an ethnographic survey highlighting the raw materials used. The production techniques, the main producers, the knowledge and knowledge, the spaces of production and the places of extraction of resources in the territory, among other information, making the photographic and audiovisual record of the research process and of the social actors involved.

municipality of Lagoa de São Francisco.

"Today, in Piauí, the Tabajaras have an independent indigenous museum, made with their own resources and our passage through the community is precisely to guide this discussion in a more direct way. We will bring more systematically this discussion that has been made in Latin America to Piauí, emphasizing this indigenous protagonism, "says Alexandre Gomes.

Besides the research itself, ethnographic registration and documentation of technical processes will form a collection of objects for the Indian Museum and will work to strengthen the indigenous museum of the community by contributing to the training of indigenous people in museum research and management as a part of collaborative research.

Clip recorded by Beyoncé and Jay-Z in the Louvre is a new example of the growing tendency to maximize artistic institutions.

In what consisted of the agreement signed between Beyoncé, Jay-Z and the Louvre Museum for the recording of the clip of Apeshit, a track that will be part of the couple's first four-album album, and which has surpassed 13 million reproductions on YouTube in only 48 hours? "They visited the Louvre four times in the last 10 years, the last time they proposed this idea in May 2018. The deadlines were very short, but the project convinced the Louvre quickly because its proposal showed a true bond with the museum and with the works that had marked them. "

If the affective dimension counted, it was not the only reason to unbalance the balance. The video of the moment reproduces an equally current phenomenon: the increasing rent of spaces in the public museums of the world, forced to find own resources before the fall of the subsidies of the last decade. In the case of the Louvre, only half of its budget comes from the public coffers, which obliges it to diversify its sources of income, which can no longer depend exclusively on the box office. Among other things, because no one is safe from a bad year: after the attacks of 2015, the museum lost 13% of visitors, as it is especially dependent on tourism (70% of the public is foreigners).

Sociologist Paul DiMaggio, an expert on cultural institutions, had said in the 1980s that although most museums are non-profit, they can no longer afford to be non-market ). The trend, like so many others, comes from the United States, where museums are private, and subsidies are modest (according to 2006 figures, only 24% of their resources were public, on average). During the 1990s, the irruption of marketing and museum profitability strategies led to the creation of private visits at exorbitant prices, the rental of venues for events or presentations, and a more robust policy to favor film and publicity shoots. This usually occurs during days off or at night.

The phenomenon has been expanding across Europe for a decade, coinciding with the onset of the crisis and the dwindling liquidity of cultural budgets. "There is a lack of money, and the public buildings serve to collect it," says Sophie Rastoin Sandoz, head of the Parisian agency L'Invitation, which hosts locations throughout the continent for filming and event of luxury brands, banks, insurance companies and agencies. Communication. "There's been a lot of resistance to change, but it's disappearing, and now everything is rentable, it's just a matter of price ..." At the beginning of the current decade, the Louvre began to potentiate these activities. "We asked ourselves how to value the immaterial patrimony of the state, and we considered that cinema was a good way to reinforce our image," argued Joëlle Cinq-Fraix, in charge of filming at the Louvre, at a congress in 2014. At the time the museum received little more than one hundred shoots. In 2017 there were 500, almost half of those made in Paris. Add to that the viral initiatives, such as Beyoncé and Jay-Z, a source of free advertising that allows the museum to connect with hard-to-reach audiences such as younger visitors. It is, in essence, an investment for the future.

How much should you pay to film in a museum? The professionals consulted affirm that the prices are variable and depend on the client and the project. By filming Apeshit, the fares that the Louvre used in 2015 show that a maximum of 23,000 euros ($ 100,000) was charged per day, although the museum did not confirm the figure on Monday. Professionals consulted consider that the actual tariff could be doubled. Meanwhile, running a day in the palace of Versailles costs 25,000 euros, and the Eiffel Tower goes for 10,000. Opera Garnier, for its part, asks for more than 20,000 euros for a film crew to work for a full day in its lobby.

In London, many museums offer the same services. The National Gallery proposes events that include a dinner between works of Delacroix and Tiepolo for 7,000 pounds (34,500 reais). The London Museum rises at £ 8,000 a night, while the Victoria & Albert Museum organizes parties at the gallery of Rafael Sanzio for £ 17,000. Nevertheless, the situation is not fully standardized either. In February, the National Portrait Gallery was criticized for closing a working day to host a fashion show by designer Erdem Moralioglu. Artist Patrick Brill, hiding behind the pseudonym Bob and Roberta Smith, denounced an "Orwellian" situation. "You have to close it to stay open," he said. In New York, rents are also frequent. And prices are even higher, although they are sometimes disguised as patronage. According to the American press, the Metropolitan Museum would have received a million dollars ($ 3.74 million) donation to host the film Eight Women and a Secret for two and a half weeks.
