With a project valued at about $ 100 million, the new Statue of Liberty Museum will open in May 2019 in the United States, which will tell the story of New York's most famous monument.

According to Stephen Briganti, president of the Statue of Liberty Foundation, the museum will have free admission to receive more visitors. According to him, only 20% of those who visit the monument enter the statue, while only 7% access the part of the crown. Only Ellis Island receives about 4.5 million visitors a year.

"We will expand the museum to tell a wider story of the Statue of Liberty. But above all, because currently those who arrive on the island can not enter the statue because access is limited. Things will change now, and most people will be able to visit the museum, "Briganti told ANSA in an interview.

The design of the new museum was designed by the Fxfowle architecture office and will be an extension of the current one, which is at the base of the famous monument. The site will have almost 2,500 square meters.

The space will be divided into sections, which will feature workshops and multimedia presentations on the history of the Statue of Liberty, from its construction to the present day.

In addition, the site will have a large garden with roof terrace.

Among other attractions, the museum will put on display the original torch of the statue, which stands today at the base of the monument. Visitors can also enjoy a prime view of the Manhattan and New Jersey skyline.

Designed by the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty was inaugurated in October 1886. The building is almost 93 meters high and was a gift from France to the United States.

The Jewish Museum of Belgium has launched a call for interest from architects to redevelop the building located on rue des Minimes, in the Sablon district of Brussels.

Le Soir reports the goal of the managers of the museum is to propose a new thread in this future building to discover the Jews of Belgium, their origins, their customs, their art. The president of the museum Philippe Blondin explains how to work with Christophe Gaeta, scenographer of the Red Star Line in Antwerp, to show the museum's ambitions to architects.

The museum hopes to offer a larger exhibition space and a 150-seat auditorium and to offer a public-access area on the sixth floor of the main building to reveal a panoramic view of the center of Brussels. The current building consists of two buildings around a courtyard but no covered connection is currently planned. The museum's leaders therefore want a complete renovation of the buildings, even destruction and reconstruction, with the choice to preserve or not the facade of the rue des Minimes.

This project will cost 5.9 million euros, including 3.5 million euros from Beliris. Candidates have until October 2 to submit their application. The office in charge of the work will be known by spring 2019.
