SINCE 1996, CULTURE IS SAYING A PRIORITY: Cape Verde. - DESDE 1996 QUE SE DIZ QUE A CULTURA É UMA PRIORIDADE: Cabo Verde.

"Cape Verde will take over the presidency of the CPLP next year and we have a very clear agenda regarding the area of culture. One of the priorities is to create a common market of art and culture in the space of the CPLP, "said Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The head of the Cape Verdean government spoke today in the city of Praia at the closing of the 7th Meeting of Writers of the Union of Portuguese Capital Cities (UCCLA), which for three days gathered in Cape Verde about two dozen writers of the countries.

"This common market has a single valence that binds it, which is the language, the expression of our culture, of common histories, of traditions, of naturally understanding ourselves. To see if we can really create a space for mobility of all that is art and culture without borders between us, "he added.

The other priority, the Cape Verdean prime minister said, is the free movement of people.

"It is necessary to give expression to the Lusophone space and this expression is done for the cultural mobility and the mobility of the people. This is an agenda that we want to take concerted action so that it can be realized, "he added.

Ulisses Correia e Silva also said that "a strong cultural diplomacy" at CPLP level is a priority.

This was the second consecutive year that UCCLA held its meeting of writers in the Cape Verdean capital, which will become the venue for these meetings in the next three years, under a protocol initialed today between the organization and the city council from beach.

The meeting of writers, who also met filmmakers like António Pedro Vasconcelos and journalists like Diana Andringa, explored this year the relationship between literature, the media and digital platforms.

It should be recalled that in the Constitutive Declaration of the CPLP (1996), the Heads of State and Government considered that the consolidation of the national cultural reality and the multi-nationality that confers its own identity on the Portuguese Speaking Countries is an imperative, reflecting the existing special relationship between them and the experience accumulated in years of fruitful concertation and cooperation.

Culture is at the center of contemporary debates about identity, social cohesion and respect for cultural diversity, and is increasingly important in the relations of cooperation and exchange based on the mutual understanding and understanding between men.

The multiplicity of forms of expression of the culture of the peoples of the Member States of the CPLP is a perspective that requires harmonious multilateral cooperation in order to ensure the inclusion and participation of all citizens.

The peoples represented in the CPLP share a historical, cultural and linguistic heritage that unites them, made of a common course of several centuries, that originated a material and immaterial heritage that needs to be preserved, appreciated and spread. Such heritage, both in its common position and in its diversity, has a decisive potential for deepening relations between the citizens of the Member States and for the affirmation of the CPLP in the international context. In the CPLP, Multilateral Cultural Cooperation is a fundamental principle.

Since 2000, the Ministers of Culture of the CPLP have been producing recommendations on various topics that form the strategic axes of multilateral cultural cooperation (I Meeting of Ministers of Culture, Estoril, 2000; II Meeting of Ministers of Culture, Rio de Janeiro, 2001; CPLP Ministers of Culture, Bissau, 2006 VI Meeting of Ministers of Culture of the CPLP, Praia, 2007, Extraordinary Meeting of Ministers of Culture, Lisbon, 2008 VI Meeting of Ministers of Culture of CPLP, Sintra, 2010 VIII Meeting of Culture Ministers of the CPLP, Luanda, 2012).

DESDE 1996 QUE SE DIZ QUE A CULTURA É UMA PRIORIDADE: Cabo Verde.
