FASHION: OLD SCHOOL VS. NEW SCHOOL.- INFORMATION NIGERIA. - MODA: VELHA ESCOLA VS. NOVA ESCOLA.- INFORMAÇÃO NIGÉRIA.

Like every thing in life, fashion has evolved, is evolving and will still evolve. New angles are added to the old stuff to make them look for fashionable and to aid keeping up with the times. What the women wore during the 80s and 90s is still in fashion today. Especially the native attires. The fashion industry calls them the “vintage” wears. Here are some images that prove my points. enjoy viewing;

Darwin museum taxidermy expert keeping dying technique alive by educating the public.

Traditional taxidermy is becoming less and less common, but in Darwin, a seasoned expert is keeping the art of preserving animals alive.

Jared Archibald, curator of Territory history at Darwin's museum and art gallery, spent 14 years as the museum's taxidermist.

The department has since closed because traditional taxidermy practices in Australia have largely been replaced by a newer method of making plaster or silicone moulds, and then casting the animal's form in fibreglass.

There is also the option of freeze drying — but this method only worked for very small animals, Mr Archibald said.

Mr Archibald has continued to educate the public about the traditional methods.

No matter which technique was used, Mr Archibald explained the most important detail on any specimen was the eyes.

"If you get the eye wrong, the thing will look dead," Mr Archibald said.

"The skill and the art of taxidermy is taking a dead animal and making it look alive again.

"Anyone can preserve an animal, but making it actually look like it's frozen in time and it might just walk away or fly away from where it's sitting - that's the real art."

Five-metre croc among Darwin taxidermy collection

It may seem like an unlikely hub for the art of taxidermy, but Darwin's museum is home to an incredible collection of uniquely Australian preserved animals.

Among the collection, visitors will find Sweetheart — an infamous five-metre saltwater crocodile, expertly preserved in Darwin in the late 1970s.

Mr Archibald's father, Ian Archibald, is remembered in Northern Territory folklore as the man who preserved the famous reptile.

But Sweetheart is just one of many exhibits to have quite the backstory.

Jared Archibald said he could vividly remember the day the museum's taxidermy department received a call offering them a deceased groper — one of the biggest fish to be found in the Northern Territory's reefs.

"[The groper] got caught on a hook from a shark bait, and he drowned," Mr Archibald said.

"He was going rotten, and we had to shove a pipe into his gut because he was expanding from all the gases quicker than we could make the plaster cast.

"It gets into some nasty stuff … but we'd never go out and kill an animal just to put into a museum."

Indeed all of the museum's taxidermy exhibits, and animals cast in fibreglass, died of natural causes and were donated.

Many were in a state of decay when they arrived at the museum.

Mr Archibald said it was for that very reason that taxidermists needed a strong stomach.

"You get very used to smells as a taxidermist — your nasal passages turn off to it after a while," he said.

"But when you go out of the lab and you come back in, if you're not ready, it will actually just hit you like a wall and you'll dry retch sometimes."

The Department of Archeology and the Haryana Museums and the established government decide to remove the invasions of Hansi Durgah. The Haryana government has assured the Muslim community of Hansi town of removing the encroachments from the land of Durgah Char-Qutab, “the last resting place of four celebrated Sufi saints of 12th-14th century”.

Director General of Haryana Archaeology and Museums Department Praveen Kumar, who recently inspected the site, told The Indian Express on Friday that they would measure the land before initiating process to remove its encroachments. “Some shops have encroached on the land. It happened because of connivance of some people. We may consider offering alternative land to those who have made illegal constructions to resolve the issue,” said Kumar.

According to the documents accessed by The Indian Express, the issue of encroachment is going on since 2001. It came to light when then director of Haryana Archaeology and Museums S P Thakur had pointed out that a local resident, Vikar-ur-Rehman Jamli, had encroached upon a part of land (in khasra No. 987 and 988) of the Durgah Char-Qutab and other monuments in adjoining areas, marked by the Haryana government as protected area of state importance. “They have started construction of shops over there…,” Thakur had mentioned in the official order asking Vikar to remove the illegal constructions.

According to Haryana Muslim Kalyan Committee president Harphool Bhatti, the encroachments could not be removed in 2001 because some people had opted legal recourse to challenge the then official directions. “Following a compromise, over three acres of land was handed over to the Archaeology and Museums Department for the monuments and a notification was also issued in 2009 for protection of the land. However, neither the mutation of this land has been named in favour of the Archaeology and Museums Department nor encroachments have been removed till date. We have been demanding removal of the encroachments since 2010,” said Bhatti.

According to Bhatti, more than 12 acres of land was also earmarked for a Muslim burial ground, but this land has also been encroached on.

The durgah
According to the official website of Haryana Tourism Department, a group of monuments situated in the western part of Hansi town are known as Durgah Char-Qutab. “The monuments celebrate the last resting place of four Sufi saints — Jamal-ud-Din Hanswi (1187-1261 AD), Burhan-ud Din (1261-1303 AD), Qutab-ud-Din Munawwar (1300-1354 AD) and Nur-ud-Din or Nur-e-Jahan (1325-1397 AD) – designated as Qutabs.

It is built at the place where Baba Farid used to meditate and pray. One of the most imposing edifices of this complex is a large mosque in northern enclosure, which was constructed by Firoz Shah Tughlaq,” mentioned the official website. Director General of Haryana Archaeology and Museums Department Kumar said they wanted to give this monument an international look because of its historical significance.

"Algumas lojas invadiram a terra.

É construído no lugar onde Baba Farid costumava meditar e orar.

“纪念碑庆祝四位苏菲圣徒--Jamal-ud-Din Hanswi(公元1187-1261年),Burhan-Din(公元1261-1303年),Qutab-ud-Din Munawwar(公元1300 - 1354年) Nur-ud-Din或Nur-e-Jahan(1325-1397 AD) - 被指定为Qutabs。
