The contemporary art museum Kanal in Brussels now knows the 10 artists who will make the first original works for the first exhibition. An independent jury chose Brussels artists.

These works will be hung from May 5th next to major pieces of the Center Pompidou collections (in Paris) for a year, before the old Citroën garages are completely renovated.

This order policy aims to support artistic creation in Brussels and is the beginning of the collection of the future Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Here are the 10 selected artists: Younes Baba-Ali, Saddie Choua, Raffaella Crispino, Simona Denicolai & Ivo Provoost, Suchan Kinoshita, Gabriel Kuri, Ariane Loze, Vincent Meesen, Lazara Rosell Albear and Emmanuel Vander Auwera.

As for the jury, it is composed of: Bernard Blistène, director of the National Museum of Modern Art (Center Pompidou); Laurent Busine, honorary director of MAC's (Grand Hornu); Hans De Wolf, VUB professor; Marie du Chastel, coordinator and curator KIKK Festival; Carine Fol, artistic director of La Centrale; Denis Laoureux, ULB professor; Sophie Lauwers, Director of Bozar Exhibitions; Cédric Libert, director of contemporary architecture CIVA; Stéphanie Pécourt, director of Les Halles Saint-Géry; Alain Servais, collector; Phillip Van den Bossche, director of Muzee (Ostend).

Estas obras serão penduradas a partir de 5 de maio próximo a grandes peças das coleções Centre Pompidou (em Paris) por um ano, antes que as antigas garagens Citroën sejam completamente renovadas.

Esta política de pedidos visa apoiar a criação artística em Bruxelas e é o início da recolha do futuro Museu de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea.

Aqui está a lista de 10 artistas selecionados: Younes Baba-Ali, Saddie Suá, Raffaella Crispino, Simona Denicolai & Ivo Provoost, Suchan Kinoshita, Gabriel Kuri, Ariane Loze, Vincent Meesen, Lazara Rosell Albear e Emmanuel Vander Auwera.

Le musée d'art contemporain Kanal à Bruxelles connaît maintenant les 10 artistes qui vont réaliser les premières œuvres originales pour la première exposition. Un jury indépendant a choisi des artistes bruxellois.

The Bones Chapel is one of the most famous monuments in Évora, Portugal. It is located in the Church of San Francisco. It was built in the 17th century on the initiative of three Franciscan monks who, in the spirit of the time (religious counterrevolution, according to the norms of the Council of Trent), intended to convey the message of the transience of life, as can be seen from the famous warning at the entrance: "We bones here we are waiting for you." Besides the spiritual question, there was also a physical question, which is; there were in the region of Évora forty-two monastic cemeteries that were occupying too much space and strategic places that many intended to use for other purposes. So they decided to remove the skeletons from the earth and use them to build and decorate the chapel.

The chapel, built on the site of the primitive brotherhood dormitory is formed by 3 naves of 18.70 m in length and 11m in width, entering the light by three small cracks of the left side.

Its walls and eight pillars are "decorated" with bones and skulls connected by brown cement. The vaults are brick-plastered in white, painted with allegorical motifs to death. It is a monument of a penitential architecture of arches ornamented with rows of skulls, cornices and white ships. It has been calculated around five thousand bones, among skulls, vertebrae, femurs and others, coming from cemeteries, located in churches and convents of the city, and which were connected with brown cement and are arranged by the walls, ceiling, columns and even outside . There are still two whole skeletons hanging by chains on one of the walls, one of them being that of a child.

The chapel was dedicated to the Lord of the Steps, image known in the city as Lord Jesus of the House of Bones, which impresses by the expressiveness with which it represents the suffering of Christ, in his walk with the cross until Calvary.

Between July 2014 and October 2015, the chapel underwent a € 3.5 million renovation, restoring damages incurred over time and building one sacred art museum and another for temporary exhibitions.

A Capela dos Ossos em Évora é uma das atrações mais sinistras e famosas de Portugal. 

A Capela dos Ossos é um dos mais conhecidos monumentos de Évora, em Portugal. Está situada na Igreja de São Francisco. Foi construída no século XVII por iniciativa de três monges franciscanos que, dentro do espírito da altura (contra-reforma religiosa, de acordo com as normativas do Concílio de Trento), pretendeu transmitir a mensagem da transitoriedade da vida, tal como se depreende do célebre aviso à entrada: "Nós ossos que aqui estamos pelos vossos esperamos". Além da questão espiritual, também havia uma questão física, qual seja; existiam, na região de Évora, quarenta e dois cemitérios monásticos que estavam a ocupar demasiado espaço e locais estratégicos que muitos pretendiam utilizar para outros fins. Assim, decidiram retirar os esqueletos da terra e usá-los para construir e decorar a capela.

A capela, construída no local do primitivo dormitório fradesco é formada por 3 naves de 18,70 m de comprimento e 11m de largura, entrando a luz por três pequenas frestas do lado esquerdo.

As suas paredes e os oito pilares estão "decorados" com ossos e crânios ligados por cimento pardo. As abóbadas são de tijolo rebocado a branco, pintadas com motivos alegóricos à morte. É um monumento de uma arquitectura penitencial de arcarias ornamentadas com filas de caveiras, cornijas e naves brancas. Foi calculado à volta de cinco mil ossos, entre crânios, vértebras, fémures e outros, provenientes dos cemitérios, situados em igrejas e conventos da cidade, e que foram ligados com cimento pardo e estão dispostos pelas paredes, teto, colunas e mesmo no exterior. Há, ainda dois esqueletos inteiros pendurados por correntes em uma das paredes, sendo um deles, o de uma criança.

A capela era dedicada ao Senhor dos Passos, imagem conhecida na cidade como Senhor Jesus da Casa dos Ossos, que impressiona pela expressividade com que representa o sofrimento de Cristo, na sua caminhada com a cruz até ao calvário.

Entre julho de 2014 e outubro de 2015, a capela passou uma reforma avaliada em €3,5 milhões, para restauração de danos ocorridos com o tempo e construção de um museu de arte sacra e outro para exposições temporárias.
