THAI HUMAN IMAGERY MUSEUM - Reflections of Thai art and culture by Thai artists.

"Thai Human Imagery Museum" is the first wax museum in Thailand, was born from spiritual power predestination of a group of Thai artists with the objectives of promotion, propagation and conservation of thai art, culture and custom which will benefit the study and research of youths.

Artist Duangkaew Phityakornsilp originally had the idea of this museum when he saw a guest pick up and bite a wax apple in his home "If a wax apple can fool the senses", he thought, "then perhaps so would a wax person"
and indeed there have been many instances of the mannequins being address by unwitting onlookers.

Creating the figures presented a number of challenges. Thailand's climate fobids the use of was as the main building material. A group of artists worked hard to bring life to every square inch of figures- sculpted with fiberglass from the skin texture and complexion with life - like blemishes to the implantation of indivedual hair strands and penetrating eyes with their perpetual moist look.

On June 14,1989, the Museum was opened
by His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand,
Somdeeh Phra Yanasangvara.

The Museum is carrying on experiments in the field of wax-like fibreglass-sculptures for the advancement of art and culture. It created sculptures of famous men of Thailand and the world.

The Museum is continously created new set of sculptures to meet its purpose on education, arts and cultures preservation which is a heritage of history in literatures and traditions. It also under goes on building a set of famous men of world, including Thailand.

The original reason for establishing the meseum was threefold.

First, to promote the awareness of Thai culture, arts and traditions.

Second, to help the study and development of sculpture in Thailand

Third, to
