Chikamatsu Memorial Museum -- Chikamatsu Monzaemon (1653-1724) foi um dramaturgo japonês, considerado o "Shakespeare japonês"

Chikamatsu monzaemon (1653-1724) was a Japanese playwright who began his career writing historical dramas for kabuki and bunraku. Considered the "Japanese Shakespeare" wrote more than 100 plays, of which about 50 are still present in the kabuki repertoire.

The Chikamatsu Memorial Museum Foundation constructed the museum in honor of Chikamatsu Monzaemon in order to hand on to posterity the articles he left in Kosai-ji Temple. 
It was completed on November 22, 1975, the anniversary of his death. 

The museum exhibits 60 such articles and annually holds the Chikamatsu festival on the Sunday just before the anniversary of his death. Various performing arts connected with Chikamatsu are presented at the festival.
