Em 29 de setembro de 1958 a Copel adquiriu um pequeno casarão localizado na rua Dezembargador Motta, no Quarteirão do Paiva na cidade de Curityba. Alguns anos se passaram e em 31 de outubro de 1984 a Copel transformou em Museu o pequeno casarão construído no final de 1890, onde permanece até hoje contando a história da eletrificação no Estado do Paraná.

Há 30 anos o Museu da Energia funciona no casarão, tombado pelo Patrimônio Histórico, da rua Desembargador Motta - centro de Curitiba.

O acervo do museu inclui mais de 5 mil itens, entre equipamentos, objetos, ferramentas e instrumentos utilizados desde a geração da energia até a distribuição entre as residências. Além de documentos e fotos, maquetes e experimentos simulam e ilustram o funcionamento de hidrelétricas e os princípios físicos envolvidos.

Durante toda sua história o Museu já recebeu aproximadamente 150 mil visitas que podem ser realizadas individualmente ou em grupos.

As visitas guiadas são realizadas, sob orientação do responsável pelo acervo, para alunos da educação infantil ao ensino superior, para grupos de até 50 alunos, e que devem ser agendadas por e-mail ou telefone listados nesta página.

O que se encontra no Museu

Atualmente o foco do museu são as escolas de Curitiba e Região Metropolitana. Nas visitas são abordados os seguintes assuntos: a história da energia no Paraná, noções básicas sobre geração, transmissão e distribuição, proteção do meio ambiente, energia hidráulica, solar e eólica, conservação de energia, os riscos envolvidos no uso da eletricidade e temas correlatos.

Com o Museu a Copel pretende

Fortalecer a imagem da Copel na comunidade paranaense, através da exposição permanente que exemplifica o processo de eletrificação no Estado do Paraná, identificando as ações técnicas necessárias, suas implicações econômicas e sociais, os aspectos no meio ambiente e o uso adequado e seguro da eletricidade.
