SÃO PAULO - François Truffaut (1932-1984) teve a sua, Stanley Kubrick (1928-1999) também, assim como Tim Burton. Agora é a vez de Guillermo del Toro, que inaugurou a sua nesta segunda-feira, no Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Lacma), nos Estados Unidos. "Guillermo del Toro: At home with monsters" é a primeira exposição museológica dedicada ao cineasta mexicano, autor de filmes como "A espinha do diabo" (2001), "Hellboy" (2004) e "O labirinto do fauno" (2006). Com mais de 500 objetos, entre esculturas, pinturas, fotografias, figurinos, artefatos antigos, livros, maquetes e filmes, a mostra busca reproduzir o processo criativo do diretor e o resultado prático desse trabalho.
"Encontrar beleza no profano. Elevar o banal. Ser movido pelo gênero. Essas coisas são fundamentais para o meu modo de contar histórias. Essa exposição apresenta uma pequena fração das coisas que me moveram, me inspiraram, e me consolaram enquanto transito pela vida. É uma amostra devocional do enorme amor que se exige para criar, manter e amar os monstros das nossas vidas", declarou Del Toro.
"At home with monsters" está dividida em oito seções temáticas: "Infância e inocência", "Victoriana", "Mágica, alquimia e o oculto", "Filmes, quadrinhos e cultura pop", "Frankenstein e terror", "Aberrações e monstros" e "Morte e depois da vida", além do "Quarto da chuva", no qual o visitante observa uma tempestade permanente através de uma "janela".
A exposição fica em cartaz no Lacma, em Los Angeles, até 27 de novembro. No início de 2017, viaja para Minneapolis e, no fim do ano, vai para o Canadá.
