In the interior of Portugal there are vestiges of a distant past,
Preserved in the form of beautiful shale villages that still remind us of what life was like centuries ago.
They are small treasures, scattered mainly by the central interior of the country, in the Serra da Lousã, in the Serra da Freita and in the Serra do Açor. The shale villages are small havens filled with history and tradition that enchant you who visit them and teach us a bit more about the history and traditions of our people.
Casal de São Simão
Small village, practically a single street, essentially built in quartzite.
It is located on one of the flanks of the quartzite crest that gives rise to the Fragas de São Simão and has the oldest temple in the county of Figueiró dos Vinhos.
The village extends along a ridge almost parallel to the course of the Ribeira de Alge. The entrance is at the highest end and the settlement ends where the slopes made it difficult to continue the streets.
In this village there is a new collective feeling made of people who have recovered the houses with their own hands. They are new villagers who came from the city and brought new life to these places.
The Cerdeira is a magical place. At the entrance, a small bridge invites us to meet a handful of houses that lurk through the foliage. We seem to be crossing a portal into a fantastic world. Everything looks perfect in this deeply romantic setting. The slate floor guides us down a path to a fountain in the middle of lush greenery.
Cerdeira
Between sloping slopes torn by water lines that plunge from the top, the Cerdeira nestles in the most bucolic surrounding. This is a village that art and creativity helped to refound. In fact, at certain times of the year, this village is animated by themed meetings that combine art and botany.
Surrounded by high mountains, Drave is a mythical place that lies in a cave between the Serra da Arada and Serra de São Macário. The view that the road has of the village deep down there is surprising. The Solar dos Martins and the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Health stand out from the scenery of the hills, one behind the other, to cut out from the light of the west, it is sublime.
Drave
Sublime is also the perspective that follows from the Vale of Paivô. It is a typical village in which the houses are made of stone, denominated stone lousinha, being its schist cover. The armaments are irregular.

Aldeias de xisto em Portugal.
No interior de Portugal restam vestígios de um passado distante,
preservado sob a forma de belíssimas aldeias de xisto que ainda hoje nos lembram como era a vida há uns séculos atrás.
São pequenos tesouros, espalhados sobretudo pelo interior centro do país, na Serra da Lousã, na Serra da Freita e na Serra do Açor. As aldeias de xisto são pequenos paraísos repletos de história e tradição que encantam que as visita e nos ensinam um pouco mais sobre a história e as tradições do nosso povo.
Casal de São Simão
Pequena aldeia, de praticamente uma só rua, essencialmente construída em quartzito.
Situa-se num dos flancos da crista quartzítica que dá origem às Fragas de São Simão e possui o templo mais antigo do concelho de Figueiró dos Vinhos.
A aldeia estende-se ao longo de uma cumeada quase paralela ao curso da Ribeira de Alge. A entrada fica no extremo mais elevado e a povoação termina onde os declives tornaram difícil a continuidade dos arruamentos.
Nesta aldeia há um novo sentir colectivo feito de pessoas que recuperaram as casas com as suas próprias mãos. São novos aldeões que vieram da cidade e que trouxeram nova vida a estas paragens.
A Cerdeira é um local mágico. Logo à entrada, uma pequena ponte convida-nos a conhecer um punhado de casas que espreitam por entre a folhagem. Parece que atravessamos um portal para um mundo fantástico. Tudo parece perfeito neste cenário profundamente romântico. O chão de ardósia guia-nos por um caminho até uma fonte no meio de uma frondosa vegetação.
Cerdeira
Entre encostas declivosas rasgadas por linhas de água que se precipitam lá do cimo, a Cerdeira aninha-se, na mais bucólica envolvente. Esta é uma aldeia que a arte e a criatividade ajudaram a refundar. Aliás, em certos momentos do ano, esta aldeia é animada por encontros temáticos que juntam arte e botânica.
Rodeado de altos montes, Drave é um lugar mítico que fica numa cova entre a Serra da Arada e a Serra de São Macário. A visão que da estrada se tem do povoado lá no fundo, é surpreendente. O Solar dos Martins e a capelinha dedicada à Nossa Senhora da Saúde destacam-se do cenário dos montes, uns atrás dos outros, a recortar-se da luz do poente, é sublime.
Drave
Sublime é também a perspectiva que a seguir se tem do Vale de Paivô. É uma aldeia típica em que as casas são feitas de pedra, denominada pedra lousinha, sendo a sua cobertura de xisto. Os armamentos são irregulares.
