IV Meeting of the UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and Traditional Know-How: Linking Assets.
The relationship between technology and heritage has intensified in recent years, in its different possibilities ranging from registration to interactive dissemination and experimentation.
If the use of technological tools in the archaeological, museological and artistic research works, particularly applied to the built Heritage, is less common, less direct has been the relation established between intangible cultural heritage and technology. In this meeting we propose an unpublished debate, which from these two concepts seemingly impossible to harmonize will try to illustrate and reflect on the potential of this relationship.
The use of information technology, digital manufacturing and new media in the current digital and technological context assumes an essential role, not only as an instrument of dissemination, but also as a tool to establish the bases of work, individual and collective audiovisual narratives and of social activation allowing multiple ways of approach, with respect to intangible cultural heritage.
It is in this exercise that this meeting intends to involve starting from the following objectives:
- Present projects, integrated in the theme of the Meeting;
- Contact and know practices in the safeguard of the PCI of the South of Portugal;
- Reflect on the potentialities and challenges of the use of technology for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage

Centro Unesco de Beja promove debate “inédito” sobre património e tecnologia.
IV Encontro da Cátedra UNESCO em Património Imaterial e Saber-fazer tradicional: interligar patrimónios.
A relação entre tecnologia e património tem-se intensificado nos últimos anos, nas suas diferentes possibilidades que vão do registo à divulgação interativa e experimentação.
Se é cada vez mais comum o uso de ferramentas tecnológicas nos trabalhos arqueológico, museológico e de investigação artística, em particular aplicadas ao Património construído, menos direta tem sido a relação estabelecida entre Património cultural imaterial e tecnologia. Neste Encontro propomos um debate inédito, que a partir destes dois conceitos aparentemente impossíveis de harmonizar pretenderá ilustrar e refletir sobre o potencial desta relação.
A utilização das tecnologias da informação, de fabricação digital e de novos média no contexto atual digital e tecnológico assume um papel essencial, não só enquanto instrumento de divulgação, mas também enquanto ferramenta de fixação de bases de trabalho, de narrativas audiovisuais individuais e coletivas e de ativação social possibilitando múltiplas formas de abordagem, no que diz respeito ao património cultural imaterial.
É neste exercício que este encontro se pretende envolver partindo dos seguintes objetivos:
– Dar a conhecer projetos, integrados na temática do Encontro;
– Contactar e conhecer práticas a nível da salvaguarda do PCI do Sul de Portugal;
– Refletir sobre as potencialidades e desafios da utilização da tecnologia em prol da salvaguarda do Património Cultural Imaterial
