Besides Palmas and Araguaína, other important cities in the state are Gurupi, Porto Nacional and Paraíso do Tocantins. Together, these five municipalities hosted, in 2015, about 42.22 percent of the state's total population. The relief is plated to the center, south and east, Serra Geral to the southeast, Serra das Traíras (or das Palmas) to the south, and Araguaia plain, with Bananal Island, in the north, west and southwest .

Exhibition.

The necklace is simple, but of rare beauty. Only three seeds of cane, call demarfim of the Amazon, call attention, and still more to have composed the look of the personage of Gloria Pires in the novel The Other Side of the Paradise. In order to have a similar piece or another beautiful biojoia, just visit the handicraft stand of Espaço Empresarial, set up by the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Science, Technology, Tourism and Culture (Seden), at the 18th Agricultural Technology Fair of Tocantins Agrotins).

The necklaces have XambiArt signature and are produced by artisans of the Cooperative of the Artisans of Biojoias (COOABX), of Xambioá. The nationally recognized work is marketed by artisans themselves, in handicraft fairs and two stores, in Palmas (Airport) and Rio de Janeiro. According to the exhibitor Rosângela Ribeiro Amâncio, in the Entrepreneurial Space, pieces of the last collection are exposed, which privileges the use of seeds, and the new, with use of recycled wood. "We always try to innovate", he explains, remembering that the cooperative has a partnership with a furniture store. The scraps of wood, formerly unhelpful, became a means of sustenance for the artisans.

Total utilization is also the essence of working with babassu. From the coconut oil is extracted, transformed into oil or soap, the bark can be used in buildings or crafts, as well as the bark of the coconut. The bran becomes food for human or animal consumption. Some of this knowledge is present at Agrotins, at the stand of the Multi-functional Cooperative of Solidarity Economy of the State of Tocantins (Coome-Sol), which gathers artisans from Xambioá, Araguaína and Piraquê. The exhibitor Carleon Costa da Silva says that this social project, which gathers 35 members, makes its second participation in Agrotins.

The indigenous handicrafts are also present, with pieces from the Casa de Cultura Karajá, from São Félix do Araguaia. Exhibitor Patrícia (Inybiá) Karajá shows that wood, beads, gourds, feathers, fibers and clay are the raw materials for bags, necklaces, oars, bows and ornamental arrows, besides the famous Ritxòkò dolls, considered Brazilian immaterial patrimony by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan).

Another entity dedicated to solidarity economy, present in the Business Space, is the Association Capim Dourado Ponte Altense, which presents a diversity of pieces produced in gold grass, biojoias, handbags, domestic and decorative artifacts. "We participate in fairs for the exchange of knowledge, the possibility of exposing our products and selling, of course", reveals Ponte Alta exhibitor, Rosirene Pereira Meneses.

At some distance, the pieces look like iron. It is only after a second look that one realizes that they are made with bush and jatobá and painted to have a metallic effect. This work, now marketed in 32 stores in several states, was born 14 years ago, with Guilhermo dos Santos. "My father still keeps the first piece he created," says the son, also Guilherme. Today, there are six people involved in the craft production, successfully presented at several fairs throughout the country. "I am created by art," he concluded proudly.

The 18th edition of the Agricultural Technology Fair of Tocantins takes place until Saturday, May 12, at the Agro-technological Center of Palmas. This year, the fair brings the theme of The Future of Sustainable Agroindustry as a theme.
