O Conselho Deliberativo do Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico do Estado da Paraíba vivenciou, esta semana, um momento ímpar na sua história: a presença na sala de reuniões dos interessados no processo, a emoção dos conselheiros que avaliaram o parecer do relator Kleber Moreira, representante da APAN, e, ao final da sessão, os aplausos à decisão de aprovar, por unanimidade, o tombamento do Sítio Acais, localizado no município de Alhandra.
Na área, há décadas, a cultura indígena e afro brasileira – especialmente o ritual da jurema – vem resistindo à ação dos homens. “É a primeira vez que a Paraíba realiza um tombamento assim. É um momento histórico, com importância para todo o Brasil”, afirmou Damião Cavalcanti, diretor do IPHAEP. “Neste momento, o CONPEC presta homenagem às coisas mais antigas da humanidade: o espírito da religiosidade humana”.
Já o Pai Beto de Xangô, que é presidente da Federação Cultural Paraibana de Umbanda, Candomblé e Jurema, resumiu, em poucas palavras, o sentimento do grupo. “Não tenho muito o que falar, só que nossos antepassados agradecem este gesto e nós aproveitamos o momento para oferecer ao IPHAEP um presente sagrado: uma muda de jurema preta, muito mimosa, para ser plantada no jardim”, disse o líder espiritual, com os olhos marejados pelas lágrimas.
Em seguida, juremeiros e juremeiros fizeram uma louvação, com cânticos, palmas e o toque ritmado do tambor (ilú), que foi tocado por Netinho, 16 anos, há dois anos juremeiro e Filho de Pai de Santo. A cantoria terminou com uma toada de ensinamento, onde eles questionaram a necessidade de que haja o respeito a todas as crenças religiosas e evocaram os sentimentos de paz, amor, luz e proteção.
O local – O Sítio Acais está localizado a oeste do município de Alhandra, às margens da antiga estrada João Pessoa/Recife. No local, além da vegetação jurema preta, que é característica da manifestação religiosa afro-indígena, encontram-se sítios de mangueiras e jaqueiras. Possui uma casa grande, um coreto e, na parte mais alta da fazenda, a capela de São João Batista. Sua última proprietária foi Maria das Dores, neta de Maria do Acais. Atualmente, o cenário é de destruição e devastação da área, restando apenas a capela e o túmulo do mestre Fósculo.
A sessão – A reunião do CONPEC começou, como de praxe, às 14h30. Inicialmente foi discutida a questão de um imóvel em Sousa. Em seguida, os conselheiros avaliaram o pedido de tombamento do Sítio Açaís, cujos interessados são a Sociedade Yorubana Teológica de Cultura Afro Brasileira (RJ) e Federação Cultural Paraibana de Umbanda, Candomblé e Jurema (PB).
O relator do processo, Kleber Mendonça, da APAN, explicou todo o desenrolar do processo, começando pela visita que fez ao local, acompanhado de outros dois conselheiros – Carlos Azevedo e Raglan Gondim –, onde ficou decidido que o polígono de tombamento foi demarcado pelo GPS.
Logo depois, ele leu seu relatório, favorável ao tombamento, justificando: “Diante dessa exposição, considero que a medida é inadiável e aponta para um novo marco da política de proteção e preservação do Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico do Estado da Paraíba – IPHAEP, assegurando garantias legais de proteção e reconhecendo a importância de um território da religiosidade afro-indígena”. Colocado em votação, o tombamento de Acais foi aprovado por unanimidade.
Emoção – Vários dos conselheiros ressaltaram o ineditismo do tombamento e sua importância para a história do patrimônio estadual. A representante do IPHAEP, arquiteta Cristina Evelise, lembrou suas origens – ela nasceu em Angola, na época em que o pais ainda era colônia portuguesa – e a conselheira Rossana Honorato, destacou o tombamento “como um elemento que converge para a valorização da cultura, da identidade e da origem da História do Brasil”.
Mas, o momento de maior emoção aconteceu quando da fala do professor e antropólogo Carlos Azevedo, que tem assento no Conselho enquanto representante do IPHAEP. “O Sítio Acaís é um lugar de memória afro-indígena. E estava sendo depredado, desprezando-se uma história de muito sofrimento, que vem de Maria Acais”, explicou. Em seguida, Azevedo levou muitos juremeiros às lágrimas, ao destacar que, ainda muito jovem, esteve na Bahia e conheceu Jorge Amado, Pierre Vérger, Caribé e Mãe Menininha de Gantoais. “Se não fosse materialista, estaria com vocês”, disse ele, referindo-se diretamente ao Pai Beto de Xangô e seus seguidores. “Acredito em vocês, meus irmãos e minhas irmãs!”.
