Born in 1937, Rudolf Khachatryan started painting at the age of three. He lived in Paris for a long period. Then he returned to Armenia, his homeland. Creating paintings and beautiful portraits, Rudolf Khachatryan (Roudolf Khachatrian) used various media. In particular, white or colored paper, pencil, light-brown liquid ink (sepia), and red chalk pencil (sanguine), pen and brush. In 1971 Rudolf Khachatryan moved to Moscow. He created portraits and still lifes, filled with black or monochromatic ocher pencil, developing his own distinctive artistic style. Roudolf Khachatrian is a very unique artist. His artworks have been exhibited in different international exhibitions, stored in museums and private collections.
One night, when little Roudolf was laying on the bed and thinking, a bright light shine appeared just in front of him. The boy saw a kind face outlined in this light, he closed his eyes again. When he reopened his eyes, the face was still there. The boy was so afraid, that he cried. In the morning the boy said to his mum that he saw God. Many years later, he remembered: “For the first time we cry, when we are born. For the second time I was crying, when I was born as a human”.

Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan
The Exhibition Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan is dedicated to the 80th birthday anniversary of the celebrated Armenian artist. Rudolf Khachatryan (1937-2007) had a versatile oeuvre with varied artistic periods, leaving a rich legacy. The exhibition features artworks from private collections, as well as from the National Gallery of Armenia and the Modern Art Museum of Yerevan.
Through this exhibition the Cafesjian Center for the Arts presents the whole artistic path that Rudolf Khachatryan traveled from the 1950s to the 2000s. The exhibition Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan includes not only the famous realistic artworks on gesso, but also the unique characters and sculptures from the artist’s late period, as well as pieces from the early period, revealing Rudolf Khachatryan as a “multidimensional” artist.

Rudolf Khachatryan was born in Yerevan in 1937. In 1951 Khachatryan attended Yerevan Fine Art College for a few months, but was expelled over disagreement on educational principles. In 1952 he met Ervand Kochar who became young artist’s mentor and friend. Since 1955 the artist participated in local and international exhibitions. In 1960 Khachatryan became a member of the USSR Artists’ Union. In the 1950-1960s he was awarded gold and silver medals in the scope of various festivals. In 1961 the State Gallery of Armenia acquired several portraits of Armenian cultural intellectuals by Rudolf Khachatryan. Since 1971 he lived and worked in Moscow. In 1977 he became Honored Artist of Armenia, and in 1984 People’s Artist of Armenia. In 1989-1994 the artist worked and lived in London. In 1997 Rudolf Khachatryan was awarded the Medal of People’s Friendship by the President of Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsin. In 2002 he became a corresponding member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Russia. In 2003 Khachatryan was awarded RA Medal of Movses Khorenatsi, as well as the Gold Medal of the Franz Kafka European Organization. The artist died in Germany in 2007.

Nascido em 1937, Rudolf Khachatryan começou a pintar aos três anos de idade. Ele viveu em Paris por um longo período. Então ele voltou para a Armênia, sua terra natal. Criando pinturas e belos retratos, Rudolf Khachatryan (Roudolf Khachatrian) usou vários meios de comunicação. De manhã, o menino disse a sua mãe que ele viu Deus. Muitos anos depois, ele se lembrou: “Pela primeira vez nós choramos, quando nascemos. Pela segunda vez eu estava chorando, quando nasci como humano ”.

A Exposição Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan é dedicada ao 80º aniversário do célebre artista armênio. Rudolf Khachatryan (1937-2007) teve uma obra versátil com variados períodos artísticos, deixando um rico legado. A exposição apresenta obras de arte de coleções particulares, bem como da National Gallery of Armenia e do Museu de Arte Moderna de Yerevan.
Através desta exposição, o Centro Cafesjiano de Artes apresenta todo o caminho artístico que Rudolf Khachatryan percorreu entre os anos 50 e os anos 2000. A exposição Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan inclui não só as famosas obras de arte realistas sobre o gesso, mas também os personagens únicos e esculturas do período final do artista, bem como peças do período inicial, revelando Rudolf Khachatryan como um artista “multidimensional”.
As datas de exibição são 23 de março de 2017 a 4 de junho de 2017. A admissão pública começará em 24 de março, gratuitamente.
Rudolf Khachatryan nasceu em Yerevan em 1937. Em 1951, Khachatryan frequentou o Yerevan Fine Art College por alguns meses, mas foi expulso por discordar de princípios educacionais. Em 1997, Rudolf Khachatryan foi premiado com a Medalha da Amizade do Povo pelo Presidente da Federação Russa, Boris Yeltsin. Em 2002 ele se tornou um membro correspondente da Academia de Belas Artes da Rússia. Em 2003 Khachatryan foi premiado com a Medalha RA de Movses Khorenatsi, assim como com a Medalha de Ouro da Organização Européia Franz Kafka. O artista morreu na Alemanha em 2007.
