O filme “Quem quer ser Bilionário”, que estreou em 2009, foi um grande sucesso de Hollywood e tornou a favela de Dharavi uma atração turística da cidade indiana de Bombaim. Mas agora... Dharavi atrai por outras razões.
Dharavi, uma das grandes favelas da Ásia, abrirá ao público, em fevereiro, o seu primeiro museu. Será a primeira favela em todo o mundo a ter um edifício desta natureza. O objetivo é demonstrar os talentos escondidos e criativos dos residentes da favela.
Segundo o diário britânico “The Guardian”, os organizadores do Museu de Design de Dharavi referiram que a sua criação visa desafiar as perceções que as pessoas têm sobre as favelas. Para isso, e durante dois meses, o museu irá exibir diferentes objetos que existem na favela, como cerâmicas, têxteis e artigos reciclados.
Em 2010, o príncipe Charlos de Inglaterra afirmou que Dharavi era um exemplo notável de como viver de forma sustentável, elogiando o hábito de reciclagem dos moradores.
No total, Bombaim tem 20 milhões de habitantes, metade dos quais vive em favelas.

The film "Slumdog Millionaire," which debuted in 2009, was a blockbuster Hollywood and became the slum of Dharavi a tourist attraction in the Indian city of Mumbai. But now ... Dharavi attracts for other reasons.
Dharavi, one of the biggest slums in Asia, will open to the public in February, its first museum. It will be the first favela in the world to have a building of this nature. The goal is to show the hidden and creative talents of the favela residents.
According to the British daily "The Guardian", the organizers of Dharavi Design Museum said that its creation aims to challenge perceptions that people have about the slums. For this, and for two months, the museum will display different objects that exist in the slum, such as ceramics, textiles and recycled items.
In 2010, Prince Charlos of England said Dharavi was an outstanding example of how to live sustainably, praising the habit of recycling of residents.
In total, Mumbai has 20 million inhabitants, half of whom live in slums.
