--- SP-Arte / Foto arrives at the 10th edition with guests from international museums.

SP-Arte / Foto arrives at the 10th edition with guests from international museums.

If it is true that it is possible to measure the influence of the host through the list of your guests, Fernanda Feitosa, SP-art creator / photo, which now comes to the 10th edition, is well on the tape of international museums. On Wednesday, 24 when you open the main fair of Brazilian photography, on the third floor of Shopping JK Iguatemi, some of the main curators of international museums will be eyeing the collection of 31 galleries and an association that represents the Abact to enrich their collections.

To name just three of these guests will be present at the fair of photography curator of the Metropolitan Museum, Jeff Rosenheim, the director of the International Center of Photography (ICP), Christopher Phillips and Brett Rogers, director of the Photographer's Gallery, first English gallery dedicated exclusively the picture. They will take part in discussions organized by the fair on 25 and 26, the Lounge One Shopping JK, with the mediation of the journalist and publisher Simonetta Persichetti, with the debaters collector Joaquim Paiva and responsible director of Editora Brazilians Hélio Campos Mello.

The guest list also includes Joerg Bader, Centre director of La Photographie Geneva and Carolina Lewandowska, curator at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, anxiously awaited by gallerists. After the acquisition of photos of the pioneers of modern Brazilian photography (German Lorca, among them) by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and also the Tate in London, everyone expects the Pompidou and other European and North American institutions will buy modern and contemporary.

As the market is a two-way street, Brazilian collectors will also be on weight in the SP-Arte / Foto to see the rarities that galleries exhibit, including photographs of Moholy-Nagy avant-garde (read text on this page), which founded and he directed the Bauhaus photography department, vintage copies of Cartier-Bresson and Man Ray, and, of course, of the Brazilian modernists, 28 of them gathered in Parallel and diagonals shows, including the fotoclubistas movement called Escola Paulista, born in Photo Cine Club Bandeirante in 1950: Eduardo Salvatore, George Radó, Gertrudes Altschul, José Yalenti, Marcel Giró, Mario Fiori and Paulo Pires. Curators Iatã Cannabrava and Isabel Amado chose 30 images that make up collections of collections like the MoMA and the Tate Modern.

The market for modern grown to a vintage photo of the best known enough to achieve, according to Fernanda Feitosa, US $ 20,000, slightly less than half the value of Man Ray's book exposed at the fair (somewhere around $ 50K ). For neophytes collectors who may be frightened by the prices, the director warns that the band of Brazilians are very elastic, ranging from R $ 4,000 to R $ 40,000 - A posthumous edition with ten photos of Mario Cravo Neto (1947- 2009), organized by his son Christian Clavier, also present at the fair with a series on the recent environmental disaster Mariana.

Over ten years, the SP-Arte / Foto, bringing photographers, curators and directors of international museums, helped consolidate the photography market and disseminate the work of modern and contemporary, receiving more than 80,000 visitors. Fernanda Feitosa want to keep the format, which converges to the national galleries and newly created publishers for publishing photo books (only on Saturday 27, will be launched no less than 12). The fair may be the embryo for the birth of an equivalent event to the Month of Photography, which so shook the city in the past.

"About 70% of our collectors are between 20 and 50 years, a very young band accompanying the appreciation of photography in the market," reveals the director.
