Museum of Popular Art of Paraíba, Brazil, is part of the campaign to prevent prostate cancer.

Next Wednesday (8), the Popular Art Museum of Paraíba (MAPP) of the State University of Paraíba (UEPB), in Campina Grande, will align itself with the campaign Blue November. The event, sponsored by the Pro-Rectory of Culture (Procult) of the Institution, with the support of Unimed, will begin at 5 pm, with artistic presentations and a lecture. The entrance is frank.

Thus, during the whole month, the facade of the building designed by Oscar Niemeyer, which adorns the banks of the Old Water with technique and art, will be completely illuminated with the blue color, to remind all men how important it is to prevent and diagnose prostate cancer. The opportunity will be given a lecture related to the topic with a representative of Unimed. Cultural exhibitions will be held by the teachers of the UEPB Artistic-Cultural Center.

According to the National Cancer Institute (Inca), prostate cancer is the second most common type of disease among men in the country. Globally it occupies the sixth place, accounting for 10% of cancer cases. By reaching more men over 65 years, it is considered a more common cancer in the elderly. According to the agency, the indication is that every man over 55 years of age will screen for prostate cancer. Men of the black race or who are descendants of blacks and those who have a father or brother with the disease should start follow-up at age 50.

The Blue November campaign was created in Australia with the goal of raising men's awareness of typically male diseases such as prostate or testicular cancers. And, precisely because it was aimed at men, the mustache eventually became its major symbol, giving rise to the term "Movember", a junction of the words "mustache" and "november" - respectively "mustache" and "November" .

A entrada é franca.
