Queer Britain, the new LGBTQ museum, opens in London in 2021. - Queer Britain, o novo museu LGBTQ, abre em Londres em 2021.

It will become a museum for all, "regardless of their sexuality or gender identity".

1
The Museum Queer Britain will host an entire record that has been drawn from the LGBT community in Her Majesty's lands.

What does a museum mean but a place with preservation, conservation, safeguarding a collective memory, an illustrated archive with a mission to tell a story, several stories, in order to understand the past, and also, fundamentally, to understand and to accept the various layers of a present? It is in this logic that the space adjacent to the Café Royal Hotel in London was announced in the Oscar Wilde Hall, the opening of Museum Queer Britain in 2021.

It will host, protect and promote a whole register that has been designed by an LGBTQ community in Her Majesty's lands. It will be the first national museum to safeguard, emphasize, celebrate and reflect on the lives of a gay, lesbian, transsexual, bisexual and queer community that for a substantial fraction of the time saw their behavior marginalized.

Queer Britain, which is also already known as the title of a series hosted by Youtuber and journalist Riyadh Khalaf, who set out to explore queer culture, is potentially located in the Southwark area of South London. According to John Galliano, co-founder of the space, former editor of the Gay Times: "People have already left the closet, now it's time to get off the shores." Queer Britain will become a museum for everyone, "regardless of their sexuality or gender identification ". In an attempt to create a file and collection of the various narratives, to add to a previously planned collection, John Galliano added to The Guardian: "People's artifacts and stories are being lost every day, and we need to save them. Already too many people - inevitably, mostly men - who have directly experienced the situation, before the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in 1967, are no longer with us. "

Celebrating this cultural, social heritage will not only serve as didactic material for the understanding of future generations, but also becomes the project's main motto. That will become part of a set of museums that aim at this safeguard and sharing. The first space in the world dedicated to LGBTQ art, founded 50 years ago, has a collection spanning centuries: the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York; in San Francisco, the GLBT History Museum; in European territory, in Berlin and Amsterdam, the Schwules Museum and the IHLIA LGBT Heritage, respectively. Initiatives like these restore hope within the communities. Now all we have to do is wait.

A cultura e o amor devem estar juntos.
Vamos compartilhar.

Culture is not what enters the eyes and ears,
but what modifies the way of looking and hearing
