At 6 pm, Solemn Procession, followed by Holy Mass and Coronation of Our Lady of Mercy with the participation of a group from Juiz de Fora. The program of the day closes at 9 pm with the burning of the fire of Nossa Senhora das Mercês, followed by concerts of invited artists.

A Congada e Moçambique são grupos que surgiram como símbolos de resistência cultural dos descendentes africanos contra a escravidão ocorrida no período colonial. Se organizaram então para manter os importantes traços da sua cultura, através de seus rituais tradicionais, belos, emocionantes e ricos. Os ritos ligados à esta tradição são repletos de dança e música, que simulam lutas e contam a história sofrida do povo africano trazido como escravo ao Brasil. Este ano além da participação do grupo da cidade haverá a apresentação do grupo Ingoma de Juiz de Fora, de Minas Gerais, Brasil, e a participação do Grupo Folclórico de Andrelândia durante as celebrações.
A presidente do conselho do patrimônio da cidade explica a diferença entre Congada e Moçambique. “A congada a devoção é à Nossa Senhora das Mercês e os integrantes do grupo vestem toalhas, chapéus coloridos e os instrumentos musicais são a sanfona e violas.
Na narrativa do mito da Santa, os congadeiros abrem os caminhos para os Moçambiqueiros. Já os integrantes do grupo de Moçambique têm devoção à Nossa Senhora do Rosário e utilizam instrumentos como manguara e guizos, além da caixa. Os moçambiqueiros são os responsáveis por tirar a santa das grutas ou mar e leva-la para a Igreja do Rosário”, diferenciou Márcia.

Serão realizadas missas e celebrações durante todo o evento, que também realizará encontros dos grupos de Congada e Moçambique da região e convidados. Artistas também se apresentam em todas as noites da festa, encerrando as atividades diárias.
Segundo Márcia Elisa Fernandes Gonçalves, presidente do Conselho Municipal de Patrimônio Cultural de Piedade do Rio Grande (CMPC) e secretária do grupo de congada, esses eventos são organizados com o intuito de preservar a cultura local. “O grupo de Piedade surgiu em 1928 e ele remete a um período muito triste da história do povo negro, a escravidão. Hoje esse grupo é uma associação e registrado como patrimônio imaterial do CMPC. O que possibilita a destinação de parte do ICMS para ações desenvolvidas por ele”, afirma.
Programação
Tanto hoje, 2, como amanhã, 3, as festividades começaram bem cedo, às 6h com Alvorada Festiva. Ainda consta na programação de hoje, às 10h, Missa Inculturada com a participação do grupo Terno de Congada. Às 14h, chamada de Reis e Rainhas. Às 18h, Procissão Solene, seguida de Santa Missa e Coroação de Nossa Senhora das Mercês com participação de grupo de Juiz de Fora. A programação do dia se encerra às 21h com a queima da fogueira de Nossa Senhora das Mercês, seguida de shows de artistas convidados.
Amanhã, 3, após a alvorada festiva, acontece às 8h Santa Missa e Batizados. A Santa Missa Solene Inculturada em celebração aos 90 anos da Congada e Moçambique acontecerá às 11h. Às 14, acontece a chamada de Reis e Rainhas e, às 18h, a procissão de Nossa Senhora do Rosário e missa de encerramento com a presença de grupo de Andrelândia. Às 21h, queima da fogueira e depois acontecerá shows com artistas da região.
A festa começou dia 31 e, nos últimos dois dias, teve uma extensa programação com a celebração de missas, realização de procissões e apresentação de grupos de congada.
