"Fun House," an interactive exhibit inaugurated this week in Washington, fills the Great Hall of the US National Building Museum with a new proposal that seeks to reinterpret the traditional residence and was designed by the New York collective Snarkitecture.

There is much sarcasm in the proposal of this collaborative group, which intends to explore the boundaries between art and architecture, seeking an intersection between the two.
The visitor enters a totally white structure, filled with interactive pieces, through what looks like the entrance to a primitive cave, carved from a piece of expanded polystyrene (EPS).
A carved skylight appears after climbing through one of the openings. Underfoot, foam balls are crushed.
"We try to make the architecture accessible and attractive. Part of this is to integrate this concept of joke, "explained Alex Mustonen, who founded Snarkitecture with Daniel Arsham. Ben Porto joined them in 2014.

One of the highlights of "Fun House", shown in print until September 3, is a kidney shaped pool.
After dipping into 175,000 translucent balls, the visitor can rest on beach chairs under umbrellas, on a white surface that imitates sand. It's a new version of "The Beach," Snarkitecture's popular 2015 install.
While Fun House must be a success on Instagram, Mustonen encourages audiences to take their eyes off the phone and "enjoy the moment, to have a more physical, tangible and memorable experience."
