The municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Metropolitan Region of Recife, inaugurates, from 17h, a museum entirely dedicated to the bacamarte tradition, in which battalions unite to shoot gunpowder through long-barreled weapons, usually during the June festivities and Christmas Located at the Headquarters of the Bacamarteiros do Cabo - Sobac (Vicar João Batista Street, 157, Centro), the museum will be named after the Pernambucano Olímpio Bonald Neto, an academic and author of the book Bacamarte, Pólvora e Povo.
It was Professor Olimpio who left much of the collection of books on popular culture and folklore, in addition to the photographs that will make up the space. Sculptures gathered by Sobac will also be on display. During the inauguration there will be a talk about the participation of women in the Paraguayan War, where the bacamarte culture was born, given by Rosa Bezerra, president of the Núcleo de Estudos do Cangaço.

Abertura oficial acontece às 17h desta quinta-feira (22), com palestra sobre participação feminina em guerras como a do Paraguai.
A cultura pernambucana contará, a partir de hoje, com mais um equipamento à disposição da população. O município do Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Região Metropolitana do Recife, inaugura, a partir das 17h, um museu inteiramente dedicado à tradição do bacamarte, na qual batalhões se unem para disparar pólvora através das armas de cano longo, geralmente durante as festas juninas e natalinas. Localizado na Sede da Sociedade dos Bacamarteiros do Cabo - Sobac (Rua Vigário João Batista, 157, Centro), o museu levará o nome do pernambucano Olímpio Bonald Neto, acadêmico e autor do livro Bacamarte, Pólvora e Povo.
Foi do professor Olímpio que partiu boa parte do acervo de livros sobre cultura popular e folclore, além das fotografias que vão compor o espaço. Esculturas reunidas pela Sobac também estarão expostas. Durante a inauguração acontecerá uma palestra a respeito da participação de mulheres na Guerra do Paraguai, onde surgiu a cultura do bacamarte, ministrada por Rosa Bezerra, presidente do Núcleo de Estudos do Cangaço.
O LUGAR
Comandada pelo professor, poeta e artista plástico Ivan Marinho, a Sociedade dos Bacamarteiros contou com apoio da gestão municipal para inaugurar o museu, cedendo o imóvel para utilização por um período de dez anos.
