The Museum of Sant'Ana (MUS), located in Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, Brazil, celebrates in 2017 three years of opening, receiving the unpublished exhibition, "Santas Women - The Heroines of Faith".
The exhibition gathers images of popular artists and scholars who have made an enormous contribution to Brazilian sacred art, such as Aleijadinho, Piranga Master, Friar Agostinho de Jesus and Francisco Vieira Servas. They are Brazilian images, dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, belonging to private collections and, to this day, never exposed to the public.
The Santas arrive at the MUS and join the 300 images of Sant'Ana from the permanent collection of space. "Mary, represented in the exposition in some of her devotional titles, as lovingly as Mother and Sant'Ana, is accompanied by other extraordinary women who in the exercise of the Christian faith have become strength, inspiration, devotion and example," said Angela Gutierrez, curator Of the exhibition and president of the Cultural Institute Flávio Gutierrez (ICFG), maintainer of MUS.
This rare expression also expresses, in an exciting way, the devotion to those who, in the integral experience of their faith, have bequeathed us the foundations of a Christian ethic founded on values such as humility, courage, compassion and love of neighbor. The set of images represents a significant display of the originality and talent of the Brazilian artist, whose access to the public constitutes a significant effort to preserve and disseminate the country's history. "The Cultural Institute Flávio Gutierrez reaffirms the mission that has guided it since its foundation in 1998: to work obstinately in defense of Brazilian historical and cultural heritage," said Angela Gutirerrez, president of the ICFG.
Museum of Sant'Ana
Installed in the city's old Public Jail, the 300 Sant'Ana images are of Brazilian origin, from various regions of the country, erudite and popular, of the most varied styles and techniques, produced, mostly, by anonymous artists, between the centuries XVII and XIX, in diverse materials. The pieces were assembled by Angela Gutierrezao over four decades of research and research, being works that constitute a collection without similar in the country. The entire collection impresses with beauty, originality and relevance.
Conceived in an exemplary way, based on museological and museographic criteria that dialogue with the history of the building of the Tiradentes Public Chain, the Sant'Ana Museum is a cultural space of contemplation. In the place, are the diverse representations of Ana, according to the region, the period, the material, the hand of the Santeiro and also references of the city of Tiradentes and the Chain where the Museum is installed. O Museu de Sant’Ana (MUS), localizado na cidade Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, Brasil., comemora em 2017 três anos de abertura, recebendo a exposição inédita, “Santas Mulheres – As Heroínas da Fé”.
A mostra reúne imagens de artistas populares e eruditos que deram enorme contribuição à arte sacra brasileira, como Aleijadinho, Mestre de Piranga, Frei Agostinho de Jesus e Francisco Vieira Servas. São imagens brasileiras, datadas dos séculos XVII, XVIII e XIX, pertencentes a coleções privadas e, até hoje, nunca expostas ao público.
As Santas chegam ao MUS e se juntam às 300 imagens de Sant’Ana do acervo permanente do espaço. “Maria, representada na exposição em alguns dos seus títulos devocionais, tão amorosamente Mãe quanto Sant’Ana, se faz acompanhar de outras mulheres extraordinárias que no exercício da fé cristã se tornaram força, inspiração, devoção e exemplo”, destaca Angela Gutierrez, curadora da exposição e presidente do Instituto Cultural Flávio Gutierrez (ICFG), mantenedor do MUS.
Essa rara mostra expressa, ainda, de forma emocionante, a devoção aos que na vivência integral de sua fé, nos legaram os fundamentos de uma ética cristã fundada em valores como a humildade, a coragem, a compaixão e o amor ao próximo.
O conjunto de imagens representa uma mostra significativa da originalidade e do talento do artista brasileiro, cujo acesso ao público constitui significativo esforço de preservação e divulgação da história do país. “O Instituto Cultural Flávio Gutierrez reafirma, assim, a missão que o orienta desde a sua fundação, em 1998: trabalhar, de forma obstinada, em defesa do patrimônio histórico e cultural brasileiro”, afirma Angela Gutirerrez, presidente do ICFG.
Museu de Sant’Ana
Instalado na antiga Cadeia Pública da cidade, as 300 imagens de Sant’Ana são de origem brasileira, de diversas regiões do país, eruditas e populares, dos mais variados estilos e técnicas, produzidas, em sua maioria, por artistas anônimos, entre os séculos XVII e XIX, em materiais diversos. As peças foram reunidas por Angela Gutierrezao longo de quatro décadas de buscas e pesquisas, sendo obras que constituem um acervo sem similar no país.
Toda o acervo impressiona pela beleza, originalidade e relevância. Concebido de forma exemplar, a partir de critérios museológicos e museográficos que dialogam com a própria história do prédio da Cadeia Pública de Tiradentes, o Museu de Sant’Ana é espaço cultural de contemplação. No local, estão as diversas representações de Ana, de acordo com a região, o período, o material, a mão do Santeiro e também referências da cidade de Tiradentes e da Cadeia onde o Museu está instalado.Com total acessibilidade, incluindo elevador, além das salas de exposição, o Museu conta com o espaço Largo de Sant’Ana, aberto para convivência e adequado para recepção de eventos.
