Una casa de cultura, sede de la colección de pintura de la Municipalidad de Córdoba y de las expresiones artísticas contemporáneas de nuestra ciudad.
El Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes Dr. Genaro Pérez se encuentra en una de las casas de mayor valor arquitectónico e histórico de la ciudad, sobre la única avenida original de la cuadrícula fundacional. Fue construida entre 1905 y 1910, como vivienda familiar para Don Félix Garzón, quien fuera gobernador de Córdoba. Su inauguración fue todo un acontecimiento social para la época, contando con la presencia del entonces presidente de la Nación Dr. Roque Sáenz Peña.
El museo Genaro Pérez fue creado en 1943, siendo su principal impulsor y primer director Roberto Viola.
En sus inicios funcionó en la calle Caseros, su colección se fue formando con obras de los Salones que comenzaban a realizarse y donaciones de Roberto Viola y otros artistas locales.
Hoy atesora una colección de 1000 obras que incrementada sistemáticamente asegura un recorrido cada vez más acabado por casi dos siglos de arte argentino.
El Museo busca nuevas maneras de acercar la colección al público, realizando muestras temáticas que enfocan el modo de exposición desde diferentes perspectivas. También se cuenta con salas de muestras temporarias donde encuentran lugar las nuevas generaciones.
Visitando el museo podemos apreciar la evolución de la plástica tanto a nivel local como nacional, que nos habla de las transformaciones de la vida y de los gustos.
La colección abarca desde los precursores de S. XIX (representantes de la traslación del pasado colonial a la república fuertemente influenciada por la estética y el pensamiento europeos) así como las obras pertenecientes a los períodos de la modernidad y las vanguardias (ambos períodos interpretados por la siguientes generaciónes con una impronta netamente argentina) hasta los artistas contemporáneos, que con la experimentación de técnicas y lenguajes modifican los conceptos de lo bello y lo verdadero rompiendo los límites del campo de las artes visuales.
Se destacan en la colección obras de Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Genaro Pérez, Emilio Caraffa, Lino Enea Spilimbergo, Raúl Soldi, Enrique Policastro, Miguel Carlos Victorica, Antonio Berni, José Malanca, Octavio Pinto, Antonio Seguí, Carlos Alonso y Marcelo Bonevardi, Miguel Ángel Budini, Carlos Peiteado, Horacio Juárez y Lucio Fontana.

Pintor, Abogado y Doctor en Teología.
Nació en Córdoba en 1839 y falleció en la misma ciudad, el 29 de junio de 1900. Fue alumno de Luis Gonzaga Cony, en los cursos que este Artista dictó desde 1857 en la Universidad de San Carlos.
Considerado como uno de los precursores de la pintura de Córdoba, Genaro Pérez se dedicó especialmente al retrato y a la pintura de asuntos religiosos.

Dentro de este género, podemos destacar los lienzos -de gran formato- referidos a los Misterios del Rosario y a los Apóstoles, ubicados en la Basílica de Santo Domingo y en la Iglesia Compañía de Jesús de nuestra ciudad.

Su obra mereció reconocimiento nacional en la importante exposición de pinturas que se realizó en Córdoba en 1871, donde obtuvo el Segundo Premio.
Intervino activamente en la política desempeñándose, entre otros cargos, como Fiscal de Estado, Juez de Primera Instancia y Diputado Provincial durante dos períodos legislativos.

A house of culture, home to the collection of paintings of the Municipality of Cordoba and the contemporary artistic expressions of our city.
The Municipal Museum of Fine Arts Dr. Genaro Pérez is located in one of the houses of greater architectural and historical value of the city, on the unique original avenue of the foundational grid. It was built between 1905 and 1910, as a family home for Don Felix Garzon, who was governor of Cordoba. Its inauguration was a social event for the time, counting on the presence of the then president of the Nation Dr. Roque Sáenz Peña.
The museum Genaro Pérez was created in 1943, being its main impeller and first director Roberto Viola.
In its beginnings it worked in the street Caseros, its collection was forming with works of the Salons that began to realize and donations of Robert Viola and other local artists.
Today it treasures a collection of 1000 works that increased systematically ensures an increasingly finished route for almost two centuries of Argentine art.
The Museum looks for new ways to bring the collection to the public, making thematic samples that focus on the mode of exposure from different perspectives. There are also temporary showrooms where the new generations find themselves.
Visiting the museum we can appreciate the evolution of the plastic both locally and nationally, which tells us about the transformations of life and taste.
The collection ranges from the precursors of S. XIX (representatives of the translation of the colonial past to the republic strongly influenced by European aesthetics and thought) as well as the works belonging to the periods of modernity and vanguards (both periods interpreted by the next generation with a clear Argentine imprint) to contemporary artists, who experiment with techniques and languages to modify the concepts of the beautiful and the true by breaking the limits of the field of visual arts.

Painter, Lawyer and Doctor of Theology.
He was born in Córdoba in 1839 and died in the same city on June 29, 1900. He was a student of Luis Gonzaga Cony in the courses that this Artist dictated since 1857 at the University of San Carlos.
Considered as one of the precursors of the painting of Cordova, Genaro Pérez dedicated himself especially to the portrait and to the painting of religious subjects.

Within this genre, we can highlight the large-format canvases referred to the Mysteries of the Rosary and the Apostles, located in the Basilica of Santo Domingo and the Compañía de Jesús Church in our city.

His work deserved national recognition in the important exhibition of paintings that was realized in Cordova in 1871, where it obtained the Second Prize.
He intervened actively in politics, including, among other positions, as State Prosecutor, Judge of First Instance and Provincial Deputy during two legislative periods.
