The Al Azi performance, one of the most important cultural heritage sites of the United Arab Emirates since ancient times, has been included in a list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), according to Arabian Business website.

Al Azi was added to Unesco's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage requiring Urgent Safeguard Measures during the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in South Korea. Unesco's list today includes 47 cultural conservation projects from around the world.

Performance art is usually presented at social and national events to instill pride, loyalty and values ​​of the country. They are several poems recited by a singer and repeated by a choir, without music or instruments. The chorus of men stands in lines behind the leading artist, in a symbolic scene of unity and solidarity.

"The inclusion of (performance) Al Azi reflects the guidelines of our leadership to support our authentic cultural heritage, and to emphasize its importance in building national identity and in maintaining communication between different generations," said the president of the Culture Department and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Khalifa al Mubarak, to the Arabian Business website.

"It also contributes to achieving the strategic objectives of the Department of Culture and Tourism, ensuring that the national heritage of the Emirates is embedded in the constant development and progress of our nation," he added.

The Unesco Intergovernmental Convention has allowed the launching of 140 projects for conserving living assets in 107 countries.

A performance Al Azi, um dos mais importantes patrimônios culturais da sociedade dos Emirados Árabes Unidos desde a antiguidade, foi incluída em uma lista da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, Ciência e Cultura (Unesco), segundo informações do site Arabian Business.

Al Azi foi adicionada à lista da Unesco de Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial que Requer Medidas Urgentes de Salvaguarda, durante a reunião do Comitê Intergovernamental na Coréia do Sul. A lista da Unesco hoje inclui 47 projetos de conservação cultural de todo o mundo.

A arte performática costuma ser apresentada em eventos sociais e nacionais para instilar orgulho, lealdade e valores do país. São diversos poemas recitados por um cantor e repetidos por um coro, sem música ou instrumentos. O coro de homens fica em filas atrás do artista principal, em uma cena simbólica de unidade e solidariedade.

"A inclusão da (performance) Al Azi reflete as diretrizes de nossa liderança para apoiar nosso autêntico patrimônio cultural, e para enfatizar sua importância na construção da identidade nacional e na manutenção da comunicação entre as diferentes gerações”, disse o presidente do Departamento de Cultura e Turismo de Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Khalifa al Mubarak, ao site Arabian Business.
