Popular Ballet of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil receives title of Intangible Cultural Heritage. - Balé Popular do Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil recebe título de Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial.

The Popular Ballet of Recife received, this Friday (23), the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the city. The bill, sanctioned by the mayor Geraldo Julio, was proposed by councilwoman Ana Lúcia.

The Popular Ballet of Recife, founded in May of 1977, was one of the first professional dance group of Pernambuco and is the oldest in constant performance. Balé is recognized for documenting, disseminating, preserving and teaching popular Northeastern dance through generations.

The company has already performed at important festivals in the country and has spread the culture of Pernambuco in countries such as Israel, Spain, Portugal, France, Holland, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Canada, United States, Peru, Argentina, China and Venezuela.

The ceremony was accompanied by the secretary of Culture of Recife, Lêda Alves, the president of the Cultural Foundation of the City of Recife, Diego Rocha, and the founder and director of the group, André Madureira, as well as dancers and members of the Popular Ballet of Recife.

O Balé Popular do Recife recebeu, nesta sexta-feira (23), o título de Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial da cidade. O projeto de lei, sancionado pelo prefeito Geraldo Julio, foi proposto pela vereadora Ana Lúcia.

O Balé Popular do Recife, fundado em maio de 1977, foi um dos primeiros grupo de dança profissional de Pernambuco e é o mais antigo em constante atuação. O Balé é reconhecido por documentar, divulgar, preservar e ensinar a dança popular nordestina através de gerações.

A companhia já se apresentou em importantes festivais do país e divulgou a cultura pernambucana em países como Israel, Espanha, Portugal, França, Holanda, Costa do Marfim, Cuba, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Peru, Argentina, China e Venezuela.

A solenidade foi acompanhada pela secretária de Cultura do Recife, Lêda Alves, pelo presidente da Fundação de Cultura Cidade do Recife, Diego Rocha, e pelo fundador e diretor do grupo, André Madureira, além de bailarinos e integrantes do Balé Popular do Recife.
