It is an initiative of the Brazilian Association of Oral History in partnership with the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). The event will welcome contributions from the different disciplines that make use of oral history in round tables, symposia and audiovisual shows. In this edition, reflections on the process of recording interviews in audiovisual media and their different uses are particularly stimulated.
The XIV National Oral History Meeting continues the sequence of biannual events promoted since the founding of the Association, which took place in 1994. It is therefore a historically consolidated event that mobilizes a large number of participants: teachers, researchers, professionals museums and archival institutions, students and others interested in the methodological discussions around oral history and the collection of interviews. The theme of the XIV Meeting, "Witnessing for images, oral history and the audiovisual record" proposes a reflection on the historiographic making in the contemporary conjuncture where communication is made, more and more, mediated by the image.
Inserted in these "new" times, oral history began to produce, above all, audiovisual records. Filmed interviews are especially rich in information about corporeality, representations of self, interaction and affections, and can contribute to the historiographical narrative new dimensions of analysis, while at the same time constituting visual records of the dialogical relationship from which they result. Documentaries, and / or filmed testimonies, bring to the historiographic narrative a visual universe and that extrapolates the limits of the paper to the sharing resulting from research in audiovisual support.
With the current proliferation, and even trivialization, of this use of the image (driven by the digital age) requires an in-depth discussion on issues concerning the relationship between image in movement and oral history. The XIV National Meeting on Oral History will contribute to the strengthening of actions and reflections in this field of knowledge, providing a space for debate on the challenges related to the recording of testimonies as well as the use of new media, storage techniques and dissemination actions.
The event will be organized around the following activities:
- Conferences with guests;
- Round tables with invited participants;
- Forum of Collectives of Oral History with the participation of representatives of nuclei, laboratories and documentary collections;
- Thematic Symposiums;
- Offices;
- Exhibition of posters of Scientific Initiation;
- Documentary show;
- Result of the "I PRIZE ABHO OF THESES ECLÉA BOSI".

O XIV Encontro Nacional de História Oral, organizado em torno do tema História Oral e a expansão do registro audiovisual, ocorrerá de 02 a 04 de maio de 2018, em Campinas, São Paulo, Brasil.
Trata-se de uma iniciativa da Associação Brasileira de História Oral em parceria com a Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). O evento acolherá contribuições provenientes das distintas disciplinas que fazem uso da História Oral em mesas redondas, simpósios e mostras audiovisuais. Nessa edição, são particularmente estimuladas reflexões sobre o processo de gravação de entrevistas em mídias audiovisuais e seus diferentes usos.
O XIV Encontro Nacional de História Oral dá continuidade à sequência de eventos bianuais promovidos desde a fundação da Associação, ocorrida em 1994. Trata-se, portanto, de um evento historicamente consolidado e que mobiliza um grande número de participantes: docentes, pesquisadores, profissionais de museus e de instituições arquivísticas, alunos e outros interessados nas discussões metodológicas em torno da história oral e dos acervos de entrevistas. O tema do XIV Encontro, "Testemunhar por imagens. A história oral e o registro audiovisual" propõe uma reflexão sobre o fazer historiográfico na conjuntura contemporânea onde a comunicação se faz, cada vez mais, mediada pela imagem.
Inserida nesses “novos” tempos, a história oral passou a produzir, sobretudo, registros audiovisuais. Entrevistas filmadas são especialmente ricas em informações acerca da corporalidade, das representações de si, da interação e dos afetos, podendo aportar à narrativa historiográfica novas dimensões de análise, ao mesmo tempo em que constituem registros visuais da relação dialógica da qual resultam. Documentários, e/ou depoimentos filmados, trazem para a narrativa historiográfica um universo visual e que extrapola os limites do papel ao compartilhar resultantes de pesquisa em suporte audiovisual.
Com a atual proliferação, e até mesmo banalização, desse uso da imagem (impulsionada pela era digital) é mister uma discussão aprofundada sobre questões concernentes às relações entre imagem em movimento e história oral. O XIV Encontro Nacional de História Oral contribuirá para o fortalecimento de ações e reflexões nesse campo de conhecimento, propiciando um espaço de debate sobre os desafios relacionados à gravação de depoimentos bem como à utilização de novos suportes, técnicas de armazenamento e ações de difusão.
O evento será organizado em torno das seguintes atividades:
- Conferências com convidados;
- Mesas Redondas com participantes convidados;
- Fórum de Coletivos de História Oral com a participação de representantes de núcleos, laboratórios e acervos documentais;
- Simpósios Temáticos;
- Oficinas;
- Mostra de pôsteres de Iniciação Científica;
- Mostra de documentários;
- Resultado do “I PRÊMIO ABHO DE TESES ECLÉA BOSI”.
- Lançamento de livros
