Norrsundets Working Museum, Norrsundet, SUECIA

The story begins not with us, there is always predecessor, the previous generation's life is the ground we stand on. During the late 1860s when the first resident population arrived Norrsundet was not the society you can witness today, Norrsundet was then an uninhabited place where it was loaded wooden and iron goods and where animals forage was on the mountain pastures. The weather's higher powers, grosshandlares and seafarers aware of the port area and toil and privation of immigrant people have over the years society Norrsundet built up to what it is today.

Norrsundets Working Museum does not want to appear as a nostalgia cabinet with scratched images and stuff piled on each other, but should rather be seen as a historical workshop where you want to demonstrate the workers' struggle and ideas. This raised the nameless out of history, those with toil, patient and devoted work in the industries and social movements transformed Norrsundet from being a nybyggarort to an industrial society.

Like the resort Norrsundet has its history also cultureassociation Norrsundets Working Museum's, with Jan Westlund at the head marched enthusiasts to preserve its threatened with closure association house since the early 1980s. People's House was completed in 1983 and the many compounds that were active in the old school at Ådala expected to relocate to the new premises in the People's House, and then the municipality intended to demolish the property Ådala school to make room for a townhouse. Some compounds such as Young Eagles, The Band and PRO moved their operations to the new People's House while Norrsundets Workers' Theatre Association (NATF) stayed and fought against the municipality's decision, it was felt that a building with such historical value should be preserved and NATF also realized that theater operations at the time was too large to be accommodated in the People's House. January Westlund realized that they could not preserve the property only as a theater room and so launched the idea that the property was needed for a working museum.

Labour Museum was chosen to be made into a corporative association between the resort workers' organizations and the decision to develop a working museum in Norrsundet taken at a theme meeting on culture within Hamrånge Social Democratic Association. Dan Hedberg, who was chairman of the S-corporation at that time also became the museum's first chairman. Within the municipality the management was not happy that the property occupied, but an activity started by the motion could not be happy ousted. All councilors were not against the new operation established, Ture Edbom donated gained Cultural a'2500 crowns as seed money for the museum and through Edboms donation was working museum legitimacy within the movement.

To develop working museum into something that can really tell you about working families' everyday lives, dreams and ideologies have been a laborious process for those who have been involved, such as the first museum in the country with a focus on working culture has not had much to gather inspiration from. When working museum since well began to take shape, there were many who helped with the practical work, particularly active at this time was Dan Hedberg and Conny Molin. After years of collecting materials and building both exterior environment interior was inaugurated as the museum unofficially April 10, 1986 with an exhibition of the artist Anders Åberg, the official opening was to take place first, 1989.

In the former. Ådala school was built in 1897 now shows the museum through objects and archival material for posterity the development that generations of working families developed. Today's working museum consists of a variety of devices, room environments from different decades, shop, assembly hall, library and archives, and expedition.
