Maritime Museum
The museum is housed in the Victorian Dock Offices in Queen Victoria Square. These nautical themed offices were designed by Christopher G Wray and originally opened in 1871. Now they display Hull's maritime activities from the late 18th century to present.

Maritime galleries
The collections are divided into three main categories whaling; fishing and the merchant trade and concentrate on Hull's maritime activities from the late eighteenth century to the present.
Whaling originaly began in the 16th century but really took off from c.1760. By the 1820s there were more than 60 whalers sailing out to the Arctic every season which brought back the produce, oil and baleen (whalebone), of some 600 Greenland whales. The oil was used for lamp fuel, softening coarse woollen cloths and various industrial processes including tanning.
The displays are remarkably comprehensive, showing the skeletons of various species of whale as well as the whole range of harpoons and tools used in the trade. Journals, logbooks and contemporary paintings of the ships are to be found as well as the largest collection of scrimshaw this side of the Atlantic. These decorated pieces of whalebone, walrus tusks and sperm whale teeth are the folk art of the whaler produced in his spare time aboard ship or after his return home.

HULL: CULTURE OF THE CITY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN 2017
The City of Kingston upon Hull in Yorkshire, UK Northeast coast, is in the transformation process with a series of new cultural spaces, art installations and contemporary spaces that justify its classification as UK City of Culture 2017.
Hull, founded in the twelfth century, has always been a city of commerce, a military port and fishing and industrial metropolis, according to VisitBritain portal features to suggest a two-day getaway in this destination classified culture of the city in the UK in 2017.
First, the portal recommends for accommodation three hotel units, namely the Kingston Theatre Hotel, a 28 room hotel to the Victorian style in the historic city center which emphasizes the Clapham Restaurant, The Lazaat, which is surrounded by 1 , 42 hectares of gardens, and even the the Gardeners Country Inn, which has a restaurant and a traditional pub.
The two-day itinerary suggested begins in the heart of Hull that besides the architecture that marks the passage of time in the city dating from the twelfth century, has museums like the Streetlife Museum of Transport and East Riding Museum of Archaeology.
On this first day, visitors can still get to know the stories and legends of the Grade II Listed Pub, visit the only museum dedicated to disco "Museum of Club Culture", the historic pub "The Mission" and end with a meal at Francesca's Cucina Italiana .
The itinerary suggestion for the second day include shopping in the shopping centers of St Stephen and Princes Quay before lunch at The Hull Pie.
In the afternoon, visitors can learn about the exhibits on marine life and even see sharks on the trip by the scenic elevator futuristic aquarium The Deep, and know the techniques of Scrimshaw (painting and sculpture in ivory) of the whalers from Hull and history the city, the Victorian Dock Office in Queen Victoria Square.
The 1884 Dock Street Kitchen is the suggestion for dinner in a former cable factory.
