Joe Berardo vai abrir em 2017 um novo museu em Lisboa, na zona de Alcântara, com a totalidade da colecção privada de arte nova e art déco, revelou o coleccionador à agência Lusa.

O empresário madeirense, que detém vários museus privados no país, tem exibido parte da sua colecção de arte moderna e contemporânea no Museu Colecção Berardo, instalado há nove anos no Centro Cultural de Belém, no âmbito de um acordo com o Estado.

Berardo indica que o novo museu "está em fase de obras e deverá abrir no próximo ano", na Rua 1º de Maio, na freguesia de Alcântara, embora ainda não haja uma data precisa de inauguração.

"Vai receber 100% da minha colecção de arte nova e art déco", disse, sobre o espaço, que deverá chamar-se Museu Berardo - Art Nouveau, Art Déco.

Questionado sobre se este museu terá alguma relação com o instalado no CCB, o coleccionador negou: "Não tem nada a ver. São independentes. Será um museu como tenho outros, na Anadia, no Bombarral, com as minhas peças de arte, para mostrar ao público".

"O Buddha Eden Garden já recebe anualmente 300 mil visitantes", comentou José Berardo sobre o jardim com cerca de 35 hectares, na Quinta dos Loridos, concelho do Bombarral, onde se encontram centenas de figuras orientais como budas, pagodes, estátuas de terracota e outras esculturas.

Em 2010 abriu o Underground Museum em Sangalhos, Anadia, ligado à enologia, num espaço subterrâneo onde exibe colecções de arte africana, fósseis, cerâmica, minerais e azulejo antigos.

Ainda sobre o novo museu que vai abrir em Lisboa, José Berardo disse que o objectivo é idêntico ao dos outros: "Contribuir para a cultura do país".

Questionado sobre o curso das negociações do acordo de empréstimo das obras para a criação do Museu Colecção Berardo, em Belém, que termina este ano, o empresário disse que "por enquanto estão a correr bem".

Em Julho, no parlamento, o ministro da Cultura, Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, anunciou que a opção tinha sido renegociar o acordo porque o Governo e Berardo estavam interessados em manter a colecção em Portugal.

O Museu Berardo abriu com um acervo inicial de 862 obras da colecção de arte do empresário, cedidas ao Estado, e avaliadas em 316 milhões de euros pela leiloeira internacional Christie's, em 2006.

Instalado no CCB desde 2007, celebrou nove anos em Junho passado, com mais de seis milhões de visitantes das exposições permanentes e temporárias, segundo dados do museu.
