O Museu do Amanhã ganhou destaque internacional na última sexta-feira, 30/09, ao ser homenageado no prêmio britânico Leading Culture Destinations Awards. Ricardo Piquet, diretor-presidente do Museu do Amanhã, recebeu, no The Langham London, em Londres, o troféu na categoria melhor museu do ano da América do Sul e Central (Best New Museum of the Year – South & Central America), que considera as instituições inauguradas e/ou reformadas nos últimos 15 meses.



 

A instituição carioca superou o Museo Internacional del Barroco, em Puebla, México, e o Space Caribbean, em Kingston, Jamaica. No ano passado, primeiro ano da categoria, o vencedor foi o Gran Museo del Mundo Maya, em Merida, México. O Museu do Amanhã foi o único representante da América do Sul na cerimônia.

Museu do Amanhã é um museu construído no município do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. O prédio, projeto do arquiteto espanhol Santiago Calatrava, foi erguido ao lado da Praça Mauá, na zona portuária. Sua construção teve o apoio da Fundação Roberto Marinho e teve o custo total de cerca de 230 milhões de reais. O edifício foi inaugurado em 17 de dezembro de 2015 com a presença da presidente Dilma Rousseff e recebeu cerca de 25 mil visitantes em seu primeiro final de semana de funcionamento.
