A Audemars Piguet acaba de anunciar o início das obras de ampliação de seu museu, na cidade de Le Brassus, na Suíça. O projeto, chamado de “Maison des Fondateurs” (casa dos fundadores, em tradução livre) é resultado de um concurso realizado em 2014 em que o projeto vencedor foi do escritório dinamarquês BIG. Ele consiste em uma espiral que emerge do solo com paredes inteiramente feitas de vidro curvo, ligando-se diretamente ao mais antigo prédio da Audemars Piguet, a casa original da família Audemars.
Foram necessários dois anos de estudos preliminares. Engenheiros, arquitetos e designers de museus buscaram por soluções inovadoras, tanto no universo de cenografia, estrutural quanto resistentes às grandes mudanças climáticas da região. Um protótipo em tamanho real chegou, inclusive, a ser construído e instalado na região.
O trabalho prático teve início no mês de agosto deste ano e muitos meses serão ocupados para a devida preparação do solo antes de qualquer outro processo de construção. A previsão é de que esta primeira etapa seja concluída em meados do primeiro semestre do ano que vem. Já o trabalho estrutural inicial deve ocorrer até meados do segundo semestre de 2017. A partir de então, serão realizadas as instalações das paredes e tetos. O final de 2017 será destinado às instalações internas e acabamentos; este trabalho deve durar até meados de 2018 quando os workshops serão instalados, além dos itens do museu. Simultaneamente, o edifício histórico será restaurado. A inauguração está prevista para o primeiro semestre de 2019.
O primeiro museu da Audemars Piguet foi inaugurado em 1992, dentro da casa da família Audemars, que tem sua construção datada de 1868. Mais tarde, em 2004, ele se expandiu para toda a casa. Sua coleção inclui mais de 1.300 relógios que fazem parte da herança da marca e explicam seus 250 anos de história. O projeto deve adicionar 2.800 metros quadrados de espaços para exposições – onde cerca de 400 relógios estarão dispostos – assim como áreas para workshops e recepções, e uma área para manutenção de arquivos.
No novo museu, a base da visita será um caminho em espiral, onde os visitantes cruzaram diversos espaços temáticos, onde descobrirão as origens da relojoaria no Vale do Jura, os princípios mecânicos dos relógios e uma coleção excepcional dos primeiros relógios complicados esmaltados do mundo, além de contar a história da maison e, claro, do simbólico modelo Royal Oak.

Construction work for the new museum of Audemars Piguet begin in Switzerland.
Audemars Piguet has announced the start of expansion works of its museum in the city of Le Brassus, Switzerland. The project, called "Maison des fondateurs" (home of the founders, in free translation) is the result of a competition held in 2014 where the winning project was the Danish BIG office.
