Who went down in history not only as a far-sighted politician, but also as a subtle connoisseur and patron of art. The Great Moguls, their court and army, originally spoke the Turkic and Iranian dialects adopted in Central Asia and Afghanistan - the territories from which they came, they also used the Arabic language and professed Islam. The dynasty of the Great Moguls ruled most of India from 1526 to 1858, until the arrival of the British and the founding of British India.

The lecture is devoted to the period of Islamic art of India with its unique examples of artistic creativity, in which two traditions - Muslim and Indian - joined.

The lecture will be read by Sheptunova Irina Igorevna, chief research officer of the art department of the countries of the Near and Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia

Династия Великих Моголов ведёт своё происхождение от Тимура Самаркандского. Укрепил власть этого рода в Индии и создал централизованное государство на всей её территории правитель Акбар (1556-1605 гг.), 

вошедший в историю не только как дальновидный политик, но и как тонкий знаток и покровитель искусства. Великие Моголы, их двор и армия, первоначально говорили на тюркских и иранских наречиях, принятых в Средней Азии и Афганистане — территориях, откуда они пришли, также они использовали арабский язык и исповедовали ислам. Династия Великих Моголов управляла большей частью Индии с 1526 по 1858 гг., до самого прихода в страну англичан и основания Британской Индии.

Лекция посвящена периоду исламского искусства Индии с его уникальными образцами художественного творчества, в которых соединились две традиции – мусульманская и индийская.
