“Your reversed Berlin sphere” By Olafur Eliasson. #edisonmariotti
"Your reversed Berlin sphere" - is an exemplary project by the critically acclaimed Danish-Icelandic artist that is composed of, among other materials, color-effect filter glass and a C-print.
The latter depicts the city of Berlin as seen by the artist from his studio, and contains a circular form in the center of the image within which a smaller, spherical version of the same view is inverted.
The inverted image completes the cityscape, which would, otherwise, be obstructed.
Because of the former, yellows, blues, purples, pinks, and oranges are some of the colors that appear in the circular element as it transitions from color to color depending on factors such as time of day, lighting, and the position of a viewer.
Variations in transparency are additionally produced, with the glass acting as a mirror, simultaneously allowing a viewer to see his or her own reflection at the same time as the image inside the circular form underneath the glass.
The exhibition is on view from March 1 through April 6 in the East Gallery of The National Arts Club at 15 Gramercy Park South, New York.
Benefit Print Project publishes editions and unique works of art in all media, from photography and the traditional graphic arts to ceramics and sculpture, and has completed collaborations with internationally acclaimed artists, such as William Kentridge, Tal R, Thomas Ruff, and Massimo Vitali in addition to the artists included in the exhibition, since its inception in 2010.

Cultura não é o que entra pelos olhos e ouvidos,
mas o que modifica o jeito de olhar e ouvir.
A cultura e o amor devem estar juntos.
Vamos compartilhar.

Culture and knowledge are essential ingredients for society.
Culture is not what enters through the eyes and ears,
but what changes the way of looking and listening.
Culture and love must go together.
Let's share.
