--- China ranks as a great museum industry. ---

A China, então, tinha apenas 25 museus.

China ranks as a great museum industry.

While franchises museums celebrities are held in various parts of the world, China is positioned as a great museum industry.

Large, small, public and private, from Beijing to Hong Kong, and even in small provinces, they proliferate. According to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China, the numbers do not stop. Until the end of 2014, the country accounted for 4,510 museums and in 2015, 400 were created, with no sign of slowing.

The rapid and increasingly frequent construction of buildings guided by gigantism and signed by major labels architecture would be unthinkable in the West - especially in the context of Latin America and Brazil, where most of the museums dwelling buildings that were not built for that purpose. But the situation is routine in China, where, since 1905, the museum has been built as a symbol of civilization and cultural instrument.

Somewhat complex, this symbol always worked like modern signal and economic development. Expansion, renovation and construction of new architectural foundations are in that country, media events that contribute to the generation of new urban centers and for direct or indirect increase in working capital.

The first indication of acceleration in the construction of museum exhibition took place in 1949 when the Communist Party took control. China then had only 25 museums. The rapid process of growth and urbanization that accompanied the period of reform and opening up policy after 1978 brought a boom which did much more than simply replacing what has been lost and burned during the Cultural Revolution of Mao Zedong. With the slogan "Every city should have a museum and each province a showroom," the communist government created a thousand museums, until the end of 1980. During this process of construction, when the country experienced the reconstruction of its history, too It surfaced a national identity confusion.

The opening of private museums is another totally new phenomenon. By the end of 2014 are accounted for 1 500 private museums - 535 not officially registered yet. Policies issued by the central and local governments offer benefits to private museums in land use, funding and acquisition of collections. The latest data released by the Ministry of Finance of China in 2013, reports that were allocated 100 million yuan (approximately US $ 16.4 million) in support of private museums. But without presenting an experienced administrative management, it is difficult to prevent private museums are glorified as pharaonic strong-boxes, without a greater purpose than just sport the individual power.

Taking into account the new art market in China and the fact that the country has the world's second largest economy, the prospect of new museums seem endless. How they will develop, it is still unknown. This is a critical moment to evaluate the museum and its potential role in contemporary China. The definition of what should be a museum is not easy. But it is simple to define what it can not be. One should not view culture as a trophy or as mere pride of national identity.

The Cartoon Museum, London.

In 1988 a group of cartoonists, collectors and lovers of the art form came together as The Cartoon Art Trust with the aim of founding a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, promoting and preserving the best of British cartoon art. After a decade of exhibiting in smaller venues, in February 2006 the Cartoon Museum opened to the public at its current home in central London, very near the British Museum.

The museum has three main galleries displaying original artwork from British cartoons and comics, past and present. Temporary exhibitions since 2006 have featured Private Eye, William Heath Robinson, Steve Bell, Giles, Pont, H.M. Bateman, Viz Comic, Ronald Searle, The Beano, Ralph Steadman and many other luminaries. At the heart of the museum lies its growing collection of cartoons, caricatures and pages of comic-strip art. The foundations of modern British political and social cartooning can be found in works by Hogarth - whose social satires are regarded by many as the foundation of the British cartoon tradition, James Gillray and Thomas Rowlandson. The permanent collection also includes works by a number of fine Victorian cartoonists including John Leech, George Cruikshank, George Du Maurier and John Tenniel. William Heath Robinson - whose name is synonymous with outlandish and hilarious contraptions - hangs with his contemporary, H.M. Bateman, two of the most successful cartoonists of the first half of the 20th century. Also featured in the permanent collection are Pont, Gerald Scarfe, Ronald Searle, Giles, Martin Rowson, Steve Bell and a host of favourites from newspapers and magazines.

Our upstairs gallery displays original artwork by some of the founding fathers of British comics, such as David Law (Dennis the Menace, Beryl the Peril), Leo Baxendale (Bash St. Kids, Minnie the Minx), and Frank Hampson (Dan Dare), alongside work by Posy Simmonds, Sarah MacIntyre, Nick Abadzis, and the final page of Alan Moore & David Lloyd’s seminal V for Vendetta. From the US, there are originals by Garry Trudeau and Charles Schulz.

The museum runs events and workshops for schools & colleges, families, children and adults. The classroom can be booked for children’s birthday workshops, and the whole museum can be hired to host special events for businesses and social groups. There is also a library of 5,000 books on comics and cartoons which is available for research purposes by appointment.

The Cartoon Museum Shop stocks more than 900 books on the history of cartoons and comic-strips, graphic novels and children’s books, and a wide range of cards, posters, prints and cartoon-related novelty gifts.

MAC Valdivia UACh, Chile

You may have been wondering what the word Lauba means... This is a very personal word for a very personal space.

Lauba stands for a circular venue and we can probably find its origin in the German word laub, which means leaves.

A circular venue with tree tops barely touching was a place for games as well as competitions. To climb its trees and conquer the entire Lauba without touching the ground. This was the sacred mission. When it was achieved, there was a new impossible challenge – to make a complete round with as few cuts as possible in the shortest period of time.

Lauba has remained a synonym for initiation through a game. Lauba is now a place of experience, learning, entertainment and social interaction. Let us tell you the story about contemporary art in our own way.

First steps

For its opening, Lauba showed a combination of works from the Filip Trade Collection and current art production. Works by the younger and middle generation of artists that have been systematically purchased by the Filip Trade Collection finally got their exhibition space in the city. Lauba presented their current work, but also served as a laboratory for art experiments and a place of cultural innovation.

During its first year, Lauba presented works from the Filip Trade Collection. The concept is called a Non-permanent exhibition as some of its segments changed on a monthly basis. Difference between an exhibition of the collection and temporary exhibitions is erased, they coexist and bring out the best out of each other. Artists with whom we collaborate also created parts of the program and contributed with their knowledge and skills.

The interactive program will continue after the first year in the same way as we will continue to present freshly produced works of interesting artists.

Half a dozen men carefully remove the old tiles from the main mansion on St. Bernard Farm, in rural Rafard (SP). Meanwhile, on the ground, another employee wash them one by one before you upload them again to the proper places, where they are from 1875.

This thorough process is part of the first house restoration stage where Tarsila do Amaral was born and lived until the age of 9. The site will be transformed into an interactive museum connected to modernism, a movement that influenced the arts and design during the first half of the 20th and which the painter was part of the century.

On Thursday (11) are celebrated 94 years of the beginning of the Modern Art Week in 1922. The event was held by 18 February of that year and "opened" the modernist movement in Brazil.

quadrant Grit
Those arriving through the main gate of the residence soon see the house from the staircase leading to the balcony. The two leaves door displays its beauty amid some cobwebs. From the top you can admire a wide floodplain football field and a ranch, luais stages and other events sponsored by Abaçaí. In back, behind the trees, there are school, church, the plant laboratory, stable, all disabled.

The house is also surrounded by several smaller houses, some fallen and some not. With so many spaces available, the Abaçaí embraced the place in order to transform the St. Bernard Farm in "Hick Quadrant," a space to foster the culture of São Paulo through acting classes, dance, music, crafts, presentations, meetings , traditional events and actions with the community. The space will be called Cultural Center Light of Fireflies.

Tourism should also be explored. In little more than a year of work, one of the projects developed by the entity is at an advanced stage. "We are teaching teenagers the city to deal with horses and we already have some carriages. People bring their horses and the boys are prepared to lead tourists on walks, not only for domestic farm environment, but for some points Rafard like old Hydroelectric Leopoldina ", explained Macedo.

appropriation
The first stage of restoration is performed with an amount of R $ 424,000 courtesy Raizen, Cosan Group company, through the Cultural Action Program (ProAC), the São Paulo State Secretary of Culture. A little over a year, the mansion was donated to Abaçaí by Radar, managing properties of sugar and alcohol company, with over 31 hectares of land.

Part of St. Bernard Farm is listed by the Council for the Defense of the Historical, Archaeological, Artistic and Tourist (Condephaat) since 2011, to be considered historical and cultural heritage of Rafard, Capivari (SP) and Mombuca (SP). Before Rafard win emancipation 51 years ago, the area where the property is located belonged to Capivari.

The second part of the restoration will be turned into the house, which is made of wattle and daub and bars of bamboo tied with vine. "It's very significant one sticks to Rafard pike," said the director of cultural Abaçaí. Adding all the buildings now belonging to the entity, Macedo provides that the intervention would cost approximately R $ 1 million. "But we're working in stages. Our breath at the moment is to take care of the mansion."
